Hi Mark, I got a question for you. My ZV -E10 recently started to give me issues when I connect it to my laptop for zoom. Laptop says devices is not recognized. I researched the issue and removed the accu for 1 min and it worked again. Next zoom meeting same thing but this time I had to remove it a couple of times before it worked. Do you know how I can avoid this from happening? Your help is highly appreciated as you know way more than the Sony customer service 😀 ty

I think Mk. II will have 4K120, and it will overheat quite easily in that mode, but that wouldn't be a problem since it's only used for short slow-mo clips anyway and no one shoots for hours in it.

Honestly I think people are wanting too much, basically an a6700 without an EVF, are they willing to pay for that? I'm just a guy who wants to exchange my smartphone for a camera, but it's not feasible to pay more than a smartphone and still have to carry the smartphone for other reasons, I think this is the ZV-E10's real audience. The ZV-E10 has 4k 30fps 4.2.0 8bit. The a6700 has 4k 120fps 4.2.2 10bit 120fps and 4k 60fps 4.2.2 10 bit all-intra. Maybe it's possible to maintain the same price for the ZV-E10 m2 with 4k 60fps 4.2.0 8bit and 4k30 4.2.2 10 bit while keeping the same sensor (I know, I know) and putting in a new processor.

the sensor is at its limit , it reads a full 8bit readout at 33ms , the a6700/xs20 does 10bit at 15ms , the old sensor at 10bit would be around 50ms and will overheat the sensor itself - now when you do 4k60 10bit , it'l probably do around 60-70ms of rolling shutter.

I think the best upgrade in that price range would be the A7C II, but that’s a bit over 2k. so the A7C original with a nice lens like the sigma 28-70 is probably the way to go.

I personally think it would make more sense if they used the A6600 sensor, with the IBIS, and dropped the 4k60, since that’s not really something you need for vlogging; I think IBIS would be much more useful. That would lessen the rolling shutter problem, and they could still add in all their AI features and that stuff.

IBIS doesn't have any impact on rolling shutter.

@@fabianlehr4318 It does. Rolling shutter can be very visible if you have a lot of camera shake at a longer focal length, and IBIS can remove (or minimise) that camera shake, thus making the rolling shutter less of a problem (and also giving you smoother video overall).

While that sensor does have a slower readout speed (which gives it a lot of rolling shutter and means you can’t shoot in higher framerates), it’s basically identical in terms of image quality and other types of performance (same low-light performance, same sharpness, etc.) while being (probably) cheaper to produce since it has been produced since like 8 years or so.

I think dynamic steady shot is broken in ZvE1. It seemed to work so well. Now I see every footstep shake. I updated firmware to 1.02. Can steady shot somehow break? It crops in still, but shaky.

I think Sony will release it this August. They released the ZV-1 in May 2020 and released the ZV-1 Mark II in May 2023. So, it appears they have shortened the lifecycle for the ZV series cameras. Decreasing the life cycle for products or releases is becoming more common in the tech industry as a whole.

@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis all good with ibis until you put it in a FPV drone and start moving crazy around flipping, rolling and introducing high frequency vibrations. The problem is that even when is turned off the sensor is still not perfectly motionless and that is a problem if you try to stabilize the footage in post using the gyroscope data. I have to be extremely careful when I am flying Zve1 not to exceed that threshold. Quick recovery to your kiddos!(one dad to another) cheers 🍻

Love my ZV-E10. The only thing that would tempt me to upgrade to a Mark II is if it added an EVF, and we all know they won't do that. So the ZV-E10 will be perfectly good enough for me for several years to come. If I were to "upgrade" it would be to the A6700 because EVF's are valuable to me, but I would still need to keep the ZV-E10 for the Product Showcase.

10 bit + 4K60 + FZ100 + around the same price as Mark 1 will make it popular again in entry level, without cannibalizing on upper level cameras, because most of the pros and semi pros don't want to deal with poor heat management and lack of IBIS anyway. But for starters and people who know exactly how to deal with it's limitations or as B-camera for pros it will work great again! P.S. And if the new sensor won't be so bad at rolling shutter as current, then I could live without IBIS.

I won't miss IBIS, gyro stabilize is so good, there's an open source script to just pull the data and stabilize all the footage, my workflow is about 10 minutes I have fully stabilized footage, no catalyst browse

I have (and had) the a5100, a6300,a6400, and just got the fx30. Imo i still dont see where the zv-e10, the 6400, the 6600, the all fit in. Imo if you're primarily doing video just shell out and get the fx30. If also doing pictures get the 6700. I personally wouldn't mess around with any of the others. If sony came out with these models in 2017 when everyone was vlogging it would have made more sense. I love the fx30. I like the apcs since i do a lot of macro photography and video. If this camera gets released, it will be priced at €1200 in Europe. It lacks an AI chip, 120p, IBIS, fast dials to change presets and different camera modes (Pict, Video, & S&Q), and a mechanical shutter. I wish it would have come at $800. I think in one year, the market will have to regulate the price, but it’s not worth the price right now. i think a lot of creators are not taking the massive price increase into account. i would have picked it up for less money because i would have just used it to get a different angle for video and had a cheap alternative for the FX30/A6700. overheating is no issue with the fans currently.

I think the mkII would have a medium format sensor, global shutter, ibis, 8k 14 bit 4:4:4 240fps in prores raw internal recording. It would be a vlogging beast as it maintain its size and price It still won't have an evf though

And considering that the ZV-E10 is hundreds of dollars cheaper, it would make the choice a no-brainer. But, what features will Sony leave out of the ZV-E10ii so that it doesn't step on the sales of the a6700 and FX30?

The biggest problem with sony is the naming scheme at this point. The ZV-10 should have been the a5600, the ZV-1 named the A5, and now the ZV-10mkII named the a5700, as they have already had a no EVF a5000 series 10 years ago. Thanks for the chaos sony.

I think it will be the same as now. ZV-e10 mark 2 needs to compete with Canon R50 which only has a viewfinder advantage. So nothing to worry about. ZV-e10 mark 2 will get a 26mp sensor and a new processor. Everything will be the same except a touch screen like A6700. Unless they will not be able to keep it under 700 USD.

I got my Doug about a year and a half ago or so and have never looked back. Have used him for just about everything from travel photos in Argentina to sports videography and it has never let me down. i say, if you are a casual to semi-pro shooter and want to pick one up, don't wait, grab yourself a doug and an apple juice and have yourself a party! You won't regret it. By the time the new one comes you could already have a full kit, some lenses, and years worth of photos and videos. Can always trade in later if you just need to have the latest and greatest. Can't replace the lost time shooting!

My guess: same sensor as fx30/a6700 because they are mass produced, but cheaper electronics as they can be sourced from elsewhere. So 10-bit 422 but not 120fps. I just hope 24fps 10bit doesn't overheat.

The Zv-E10 is good but its rolling shutter kind of sucks, and im willing to record many videos in my camera, so with the problem of rolling shutter its quite confusing what to buy in this budget

I want computational photography specifically the ability to blend 10s of exposures in a split second to produce a single RAW with insane DR, android OS, a bright screen like iPhone’s, haptics, ability to upload pics to the cloud, internal storage and all the smart features found on modern smartphones. Also don’t want any EVF.

thinking about it having the updated sensor and updated specs I can see easily costing uo to 1000-1200 as the a6700 is just 1400, and that would be fine in my opinion, a6700 is a beast of a camera, so a ZV version would be amazing for the great audio recording, even if it doesnt have 4k 120, just 60fps, but still with the Z battery that would be enough, please sony no more W batteries

Interesting. I only have two complaints about the ZV-E10: 1. Does not support S-Cinetone 2. Occasionally overheats Other than these, it's an almost perfect camera - specially when it comes to price

When does it overheat for you? You have internal temp set to high, on a tripod with the screen open? Mine has never even turned on the overheat warning so I’m curious!!

@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Yes, I always set temp to high :) It happened several times on the dash of my car. You may say it is a kind of extreme situation. I tested many cameras, but it only happened with the Action-cams and ZV-E10. Never happened with any other mirrorless camera.
