What an awesome video! The journey to the track towing the Subaru built up my expectations and then - bam! - you delivered! I loved the shots in which the two cars pass either side of the camera and thanks to the out-takes we know the shot was planned, and not just a happy mischance. Thanks for providing such a great start to the weekend : )

Hi Del - thanks for a brilliant comment as usual, pleased you enjoyed this little bit of entertainment. Yes, you got it in one - we had to plan the whole thing and set up each shot carefully in order to film a few continuous laps! Otherwise we would need about 10 cameras set up around the track, and we only have one each! So not a serious race, but at least if you watch each of the cars closely you can get some idea of the performance and handling. Thanks again, Del, I wish you a very good weekend! : )

Hi Mikael - nice to read you! Glad you enjoyed it my friend, I thought we needed a run video after al those unboxings and builds - thank goodness we had some sunshine at last! Yes, I thought about a separate out-takes video, but got carried away with the editing! The two cars are very close in terms of performance, my Sport Tuned motor has the edge on acceleration compared to the silver can (geared up with 22T pinion) in Rob's Lancia. He may have a KPH or two advantage on top speed. As for the handling, I still prefer the TA-02, but now the TT-02 is hopped up it is so much closer than ever before. Well mate, great video and editing. With all the footage we had I can't get over how many of the same clips we used. The music you chose really fits the action to a tee and from all the comments on both our versions it sounds like it may be worth publishing two versions of some videos, with and without music lol. I think our next joint venture should be the Aqroshot Vs the Blitzer? Will have to fit the ground assault tyres to the Aqroshot first though. Although unfortunately neither the Aqroshot nor the Blitzer will fit on the trailer unless we take the wheels off them LOL. Lets hope for some more nice weather at the weekend mate 😎👍👌

I like how you brought the Subaru in on a trailer at the beginning. I have been looking over your videos because with the current situation being stuck at home I really want to build a car. Most of the Tamiyas are out of stock right now, but I did find the tt02 Subaru kit. I was wondering how hard would it be to convert that over to a tt02b later? I really like the neo scorcher and I see you have both cars. Any help you could give would be much appreciated.
@MarkBryanRC4 жыл бұрын
Hi DAS RC. Yes, there is a big shortage of Tamiya RC kits at the moment, and I think it will get worse before it gets better! The TT02 Subaru is a lovely kit. However, to convert it to a TT02B would be possible but terribly expensive. You would need to change the A-arms, suspension pivots, drive shafts, C-cups, steering arms, shocks, dog-bones, wheels, tyres, body mounts, shock towers, the list goes on. Much cheaper to get the Subaru for now (something interesting to build) and get the TT02B when it becomes available in the future. I hope this helps, best regards from Mark.... :)

I still run my TA02 chassis from the 90s what do you think runs better the TA02 or the TT02?
@MarkBryanRC4 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael, thanks for the comment. So we are both running vintage TA02's! Well, in stock form, the TA02 wins hands down! Better in every respect, handling wise. Plus the ground clearance is double that of the TT02. With the standard shocks (with no damping whatsoever) the TT02 is a bit of a joke really, when it comes to off-road driving. Transformed with the addition of CVA oil shocks, but still the TA02 drives and handles better, in my humble opinion! :-)

@@MarkBryanRC It is getting so very hard to find TA parts here in the USA. I picked up a rough chassis for $65usd last week just to have spares.
@MarkBryanRC4 жыл бұрын
That seems like a good buy, even if it's just for spares. I have found quite a few new spares on eBay (UK) - there are quite a few about because the TA-02 is still available new, in the Lancia 037 kit, but it is the short wheelbase. I managed to get new gear sets and drive cups and shafts for a very good price. It might be worth searching for spares on that kit - you never know! :)

Ah so this is what happened after the Land Rover delivered the cars. Brilliant stuff Mark. Some great racing and top video work as ever. I think you might have bent your wibbly wobbly when you rolled over! That trailer of Robs is quite impressive as is the Land Rover towing it. I'm assuming your weekend has started so enjoy it mate. My wife has just popped to the microbrewery to pick up a 5 litre container so ours will start when she's back. On a side note, what type of pole do you use to attach your GoPro to? I'm using a selfie stick which is convenient as it folds down but I think it would be great to make some sort of long counter balanced pole to get nice smooth tracking shots. I'm sure I could invent something with a mop handle and a tin of beans 😂
@robbrennanrc5 жыл бұрын
Hi Pete. Thanks for the comment about the trailer and Landie fella. Also we use a retractable selfie stick, no gimbals just the hyper smooth stabilisation built into the GoPro 7 I have. It's very impressive but you have to be in 60FPS or lower to activate it.

@@robbrennanrc Ah right. I was using my GoPro Hero 3 until quite recently which didn't have any stabilisation mode but I have recently bought a Hero 5 which does have it. Hello! The trailer is an XTra Speed RC trailer kit. It belongs to my friend, Rob Brennan - he has an unboxing video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qofTqqirbd-YZtk Not sure how much it costs, you can always ask him. All the best from Mark... :)

Holy CRAP Mates!!!! 😱😀🍺🍺🍺👏👏👏👏👏 I now see your "Home Field Advantage"!! You guys would kick my Yankee Arse all over that Track!!! 👊😫😭😭 That's IT. If I can get to England - I'm only bringing CRAWLERS with me! I've got to tip the Scales somehow.... That was EXCITING Mark and Rob!!! 👍👍👏👏👏👏 Are they both Brushless now? Cheers Mates! Carmine 🚂 🚙

Cheers for the amusing comment, Carmine! LOL!!! Nah - after a few laps you'd be ripping round with us no problem! You can leave the fast cars at home and borrow my XV-01 - you'd bloody love it! :))

Oh, sorry, forgot to reply - no, the Lancia has a stock silver can and the Scoobie has a Tamiya Sport Tuned! :D

I get the feeling that One Lap will have me heading to your Hobby Shop and BUYING a XV-01!!! 😎👍👍😊 .... And you've either got great Camera Tricks, or great Gearing. Those looked FAST!! 😱🔥
@MarkBryanRC5 жыл бұрын
Hey Carmine, it would be money well spent! No camera tricks really, but when you run in widescreen and mount the camera as low to the ground as possible, then run the RC's as close as you can to the camera, the speed appears much faster than it actually is! Ahh! So as I typed this, I just realised that it IS a bit of a camera trick!!! LMAO! :D
@CarminesRCTipsandTricks5 жыл бұрын
I think I'm already in lust with the XV-01, and buying one in England would really have me chucked!! 😀 That's good Camera advise!! I'll need that. I can FINALLY get HD SD Card, so I can use my Nikon D-SLR again!!!! 😀😊👍👍

Wow - 60 hour weeks - I remember those days (when I was in my 20s and 30s) so not surprised you don't get the time! Nice of you to watch this one though mate - cheers! : )

Yo Mark, does the TA 02 have torque steer?
@MarkBryanRC5 жыл бұрын
Hi my friend! 👍 Well, if it does torque steer, I sure have not noticed it, the car runs straight under full power our of a slow turn, so I guess it is OK! All the best from Mark! :-)

Great vid. What camera kit did you use?
@MarkBryanRC5 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much, Shaun! It was a lot of fun making this video. Most of the static shots were with a GoPro Hero 5 set to 120fps, panning and chase shots with a GoPro hero 7 set to Hypersmooth, and the longer distance zoom shots were with a Sony Handycam. Glad you enjoyed it! :-)
@shaun39375 жыл бұрын
Cool. What about mounts, arms, whatever - for the moving shots
@MarkBryanRC5 жыл бұрын
The only mount I use is a cheap mobile phone selfie stick with the GoPro mounted upside-down on the end!

I like rally cars but the bumps make them look and sound awful whenever they keep scraping across the ground and scooping up pebbles in the rear. Someone really needs to build and undercarriage for these things so that they can perform better off road.
@MarkBryanRC5 жыл бұрын
That's a very good point, Ace Report. I suppose it wouldn't be that hard to fabricate with a little time and effort, maybe using some alloy plate or thick lexan, extending the internal bumper mounts so that they meet with the bodywork at the front and rear.
@adr20sv3 жыл бұрын
Many are putting brushless motors, marking high mph and that is getting kind of main stream, but what are you doing here is pure hobbie emotions, a stock motor, mechanical upgrades done by yourself, really well painted body shells and not going for the top speed, but for the best off road fun, even the little land rover with the trailer is cool as hell.
@MarkBryanRC3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the great comment, Adrian! I'm so pleased that you appreciated the raw Tamiya emotions, the stock motors and little upgrades make these Tamiya cars so good to drive just for the fun of it. I agree that too many people just put fast motors in and forget about the pure driving pleasure that such a Tamiya can provide! It's definitely not all about speed for me! Thanks again and all the best from Mark... :O)
