Great idea to use the o-rings on the rubber boot Mark! I usually use small zip ties. The chassis looks great!👍😊

Thanks Jeremy! Oh yeah, I tried zip ties but sometimes the heads catch on nearby parts like the insides of those suspension arms. O-rings are a good option if you can get the right sizes. All the best, my friend! 😉😎 👍

Pleasure to watch your build videos Mark. I have a soft spot for the ORV chassis. It's a good workhorse. Smple rigid and with nice ground clearance. Hope your body build is enjoyable. I've heard it's one to do when you're nice and calm so I reckon you'll be right.
@MarkBryanRC Жыл бұрын
Cool, thanks Jon! Yeah, the ORV is pretty unique, they'd never design a chassis like this these days! Agree though, it's a great solid chassis, should be fun out on the rough! I'll be taking my time on that hard body, doing the Lexan one first! All the best, cheers! 🙏😎👍

Hi Mark very good video and some great tips to take home.This is another one on my wish list for some point. I wanted one of these when they came out in the 80’s but went for the frog instead as I wanted to join my local rc club to race. I still have my old frog and plan to show it at some point. Anyway have a good weekend and take care

I prefer the dog-bones on the brat over the CVD on the Blackfoot. I like the tyres on these and the wheels they stopped using the screw together as they do not need glue to stop them slipping when wet.

You got that right, Mal! I don't know how many times I changed the driveshafts on my original Monster Beetle! Love the wheels on this too, nice and simple but a great design! Cheers! 😎👌👍

Nice Mark! It should move out real nice with the torque tuned motor. 👍on those rubber drive boots I tie a little fishing line around them to hold them in place on the drive cups.

Very well presented, and pleasantly relaxing video Mark! The ORV is such a fun chassis to build, it really is such a quirky unique design. I must say, I much prefer that chassis colour in comparison to the red! Much as I adore the ORV, those bloody rubber axle boots are my nemesis.....lost track of how many sets of them I've had to order over the years on the monster beetles! Tie wraps keep the boots on, but under heavy impact, or fully released trailing arms (through jumping) the dog bones get spat out the drive cups and rip through the rubber! They are then a nightmare to get back in, and like you say- harbour the grit and muck! Your rubber O ring tip was quality (I will certainly try this) I've had a lot of success with one of your previous tips, limiting the rear arms travel by inserting a small screw underneath each side. ... since that video I've managed to keep the dog bones in position, and haven't split any more rubber boots! 😊 Thank you! Really looking forward to seeing the route you go down with the bodies next mate. Anyway fella, hope you're getting over the old con flu mate.... back to full strength in time for spring mate! 👍 👍 👍 👍
@MarkBryanRC Жыл бұрын
Hi James - sorry mate, just trying to find all the comments I haven't answered! Yes I thoroughly enjoyed the build on this one, and I also prefer the grey colour of this chassis. But I share your loathing of the rubber boots, many a hole I've had in them in the past! Bloody escaping dogbones! But that trick to limit the travel of the suspension arm does do the trick, I might do it on this one before I run it... The O-rings work well because you don't have the head of the zip tie to clatter into anything as the shaft spins, much better IMHO. I got some blue for the hard body and about 5 colours to choose from for the Lexan body... not sure yet! I'm feeling a lot better today, thanks, but Louise is still pretty bad and testing positive, poor girl! All the best my good friend! 😎👌👍

Great build video with many useful tips Mark.👍😊 I recall the old re re Frog had zip ties for the shaft boots. I may remove them eventually like I did for my Monster Beetle as it makes it much easier to clean and maintain. Really love those 3 piece Brat wheels too.

Thank you very much, Sean! Yeah I think my original Monster Beetle had those zip ties. I prefer the O-rings coz they don't leave a tag sticking out. And agreed, those wheels are pretty cool! Cheers! 😎👌👍

Looks like a nice build, Mark! I've never been so keen on the Frog, so this one might be a better option, plus I like those tyres on it! Subarus are cool, I'm looking forward to see what you'll be doing with the bodies, there should be some opportunity to play around, since there is always a back-up if something goes wrong, ha ha... But which is the primary and which is the back-up? Hah! That's a tough one... Have a great weekend there, my friend!

Hello Mads and thanks for always being there, I really appreciate it my good friend. I must admit that I do like the Frog, but out of the 2 I'd choose the Brat first. The tyres are so cool and more lifelike than most Tamiya tyres, they are very thick, heavy rubber. I'm going to use that Lexan body for bashing and do my best effort on the hard shell. Hope your weekend was good, mate! 🙏😎👍

Hi there Mark, I just love the ORV chassis and my Subaru Brat, it’s one of my favourites, and mine, if you remember, had the bearings bathed in some warmed TeamZX1 micro oil, for extra slickness 😊. Hiya mate. Great stuff as ever with some top tips along the way. I did try to get some O rings the right size after the last time you recommended them but the ones I got were no good. Have you just got a big selection box of them? I did enjoy building my Brat and this is one I've left brushed as it's a good speed for driving round the garden in the summer. Also making this chassis fast is asking for trouble as I found with the Blackfoot. I look forward to seeing what you do with the body shells for this. That hard plastic shell takes some time. Best wishes for the weekend my friend 😁👍

Hiya Pete! Oh yeah, I got a massive box of O-rings from Aldi, all different sizes, it comes in real handy! Yep, I took a lot of advice from your build guides for the Brat, especially the one about receiver placement. I did credit you while filming but then promptly made a mistake and re-filmed the part, forgetting to credit you!!! Sorry mate!
