Lovely Job Mark, I have always wondered why people doing van builds just opt for fixed single bonded windows or sliding windows instead of double glazed caravan windows, they offer better insulation, better sound proofing and are much cheaper and easier to replace if they're damaged. 👍🏻
@Iveavan6 жыл бұрын
Cheers John😉👍👍👍, yeah I did too🤔. In fact searching on KZbin on how to fit an caravan window, there's not many at all. Probably down to more work being involved, like making the frame and then trying to match the face profile to suit the vans body bud 🤔😁👍👍👍.

When I built the VW T6, or rebuilt it, I thought it'd be easy, quick and cheap!!! I didn't factor in the time to "do it right" or the fact I kept seeing nicer things to put in the van. 😛

Hi Mark great work with the window. I've recently bought an old Iveco Daily too. Also planning to add caravan windows. How did you fill the gap between the black seal and the outside face of the van where there are the recesses in the van wall? As the black seal will follow the flat wooden batten but the outside of the van is not a flat surface like you said
@Iveavan5 жыл бұрын
Cheers Ant 😊👍, mine seem to be fine due to the sealant I've used...... How ever, I plan to do the same as I did with the skylight video, where I made fibre glass mouldings to bridge those annoying indentations your on about. Because I'm stationery at the minute they haven't leaked, but I'd imagine once on the road they could possibly leak🤔. So for insurance purposes, I plan to do the above for back up mate. It was mid winter'ish when I did those windows, so I thought I do those gaps when the sun was out matey 😉👍👍👍

Thank you 😊👍. I removed them from the caravan and measured the window of the caravan itself, and I traced one of the corners on to the plastic template. I'd imagine if I didn't have the caravan to go off on, I'd would of struggled 🤔😉👍👍👍.

This is brilliant, I've just acquired exactly the same window and have an Iveco Daily and you've sorted my head scratching with this! Thank you. One question, at the end of your vid you close the window and there seems to be a gap on the bottom right hand corner where it meets the door shape, has this been an issue for you or is it just how it looks in the vid?
@Iveavan5 жыл бұрын
Thank you Kevin 😁👍, Regarding the bottom gap, no, not that I have noticed, but what I am going to do is make a fiberglass mould of that recesse, and pack each corner mate, as for leaking rain or wind noise, as it is now, not been a problem, but I want to make sure that is sorted before long and pack them out, just like I did with the skylights 😉👍👍👍

Reckon a caravan window.would work on the roof?
@Iveavan10 ай бұрын
I think you would struggle to make it water tight due to the roof structure not being flat, unlike the sides of the van. Also, skylights offer ventilation even when closed ( not air-tight ). The caravan will not offer that, unfortunately, bud 👌👍.
@garrethsmith995410 ай бұрын
It's a luton roof so quite flat in fact. Probably not a strong enough seal by design
@Iveavan10 ай бұрын
@garrethsmith9954 probably not if it's made from fibreglass, I have seen some people use 'boat deck hatches' on lutons, sandwich between a framework to give the roof more strength mind you, I think Adrian did this, in this video ( if not in this video the one after it ) kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6CreaSejr17fNUsi=qpzdQ1U9MT7TgN6-
