Marked Deck Review - Crossed keys from Peter Turner & Ellusionist

I got this deck from Peter Turner's How To Control Minds. One thing about them I haven't seen mentioned *anywhere* is that there is also a reveal on the King of Spades.

hmmm not to me. I have tons of cards with complex back designs and none of them are marked.

I’ve had some time to play with the Crossed Key decks I received. The deck looks nice and classy and has a good feel to it. Though, I’d prefer if the corner indicators on the faces of the red suits were also red, instead of black. Some may not care, and it’s not a real big deal to me, but it is a minor annoyance, as my preference is that the color of the indicators match the color of the suit. The markings, while being “readers”, aren’t my favorite, either in location or in design. Some of the values look very similar due to how they’re printed and incorporated into the design. And the biggest disappointment I have with this deck is: The marking for the 9 of Clubs has a misprint on one end. If you look at the wrong end, you’ll wonder how that could be a “9”. Well, it can’t…because the misprint doesn’t even come close to looking like a 9. And if you didn’t notice the misprint and found out by chance during performance, it would definitely throw you off. So the lack of quality control that allowed the 9 of Clubs misprint to be on every deck, and having to learn two markings to recognize a 9 of Clubs, is annoying to say the least. I do like the 9 of Spades reveal on the King of Spades. That’s pretty cool.

I got the email for the deck with the tutorial, but I have so many playing cards. I got a brick from T11 as a gift in April and still haven’t played with a good bit of them. Thinking my wife would look very sideways if another deck shows up in the mailbox. Side note, I did get the Magic Orthodoxy tee in the mail yesterday (logo version-had it on my Father’s Day wish list). Solid, soft, comfy tee for anyone considering.

The problem I have with marked deck cards is, I love you too unless I can see what it is I'm supposed to be looking at, I don't know if I want that. Because if I'm looking at it and I cannot read it, it is not going to be of any use to me and my eyesight. We know it's a marked deck from the description of this video. The secret is already out. The markings themselves determine whether or not each individual is able to work with them. That wouldn't be giving away the secret showing with the markings actually look like.

He had 6-7 lot sealed deck auctions up and I won the ellusionist one, which included a pioneers, black tigers and this deck.

The only thing I didn't like about my Crossed Keys playing cards was the very small golden spots of paint on the face. On almost every playing card.

Long time supporter of Peters but this deck I didn't care for as much. The markings were easy to read so that was nice but unfortunately the back design all blends together. I would have preferred more custom court cards. I did like the different quotes throughout the card Box. And I really like how illusionist is now coloring the inside of the card Box. I think that these markings are very easy to read so that is one upside. Needless to say the artwork just wasn't for me. I would have rather spent my money on getting another brick of David Blaine metallic blue playing cards.
