Story 2: OP is being hardcore gaslit, controlled, worn down, isolated from friends and family, has to fight just to be able to speak to the people he cares about, is constantly accused of cheating, constantly put down. OP is being abused psychologically and made to feel so small, that he needs her constant approval. I wouldn’t be surprised if she is cheating, and honestly OP should use that as an excuse for leaving if he needs it because he needs to LEAVE. He doesn’t have his own life, can’t t get a moments peace, is constantly fighting just to be heard, he deserves so much better and needs to escape this actual DEMON.

Yeah it’s even more worrisome she’s a decade older than him and has been doing this a lot longer, he’s her boy toy and she’s a loser who can’t have a successful relationship because she’s a pathetic manipulative narcissistic cheater. I’m honestly surprised no one pointed that out, Reddit is quick to talk about the power imbalance with large age gaps for women but the same exist when it’s reversed. (Im not saying every age gap relationship is unhealthy at all, but when it’s like this it does play a role in the dynamic) She abused and wore down this man until he was a shell of himself, all because she was clearly cheating but her ego couldn’t let her be cheated on.

In story 3 about religious people having a script on how to manipulate reluctant family members of church goers is horrifyingly true. It's exactly what happened to my late grand father. His wife was a dangerously religious woman, he was adamant about not wanting anything to do with it. But eventually caved in and gave up trying to protect his children from it, then he was eventually manipulated into buying into it whole sale after my grand mother had a stroke. When that happened they swarmed him when he was emotionally vulnerable. The irony that day was that it wasn't my grandmother who I lost from her stroke, but my grandfather.

He called out MY NAME and asked me to come to the front. I nearly died from the shock. I think their plan was that I would be so shocked and embarrassed, I’d just go through with it. The whole congregation were looking at me expectantly. I just apologised and said there must’ve been some kind of mistake and it wasn’t happening today. The only time I stepped in that church after was for his brother’s wedding.

Getting an abortion can cause infertility. It's not terribly common, but it CAN happen. Though it's more likely that she got an STD that she didn't get treated for long enough that it caused infertility. That's most likely the issue because it's super easy for a woman to not notice several STDs and just not get tested because of "no symptoms." I've actually known a few women this happened to because they didn't think getting tested was "necessary" due to only having 1 partner or because they used condoms and just assumed they were fine. ALWAYS GO FOR SCREENINGS! I am monogamous and , I still get tested. So does my husband.

Story 3 is so bizarre to me, I'm Christian, I was raised Christian, and the part that was massively emphasised to me was that I had to accept Jesus Christ dying for my sins. None of this going to church nonsense, I was taught by multiple ministers and reverends that going to church is not the defining characteristic of a Christian. So getting baptised, without actually accepting Christ, is just being splashed with water for absolutely no reason. Also, I don't understand why so many Christians seem to miss the part where forcing your beliefs on to another is a sin? You can teach people about Christianity, but you can't force or pressure them to accept it. Your responsibility is to spread the 'Good News', it's their choice whether they heed that news or not.

Imagine setting up your partner and encouraging her to do an ILLEGAL DNA test, telling her constant lies because apparently you can’t talk to your own brother about dumb suspicions that you’ve made up in your head, then having said partner waving those results IN FRONT OF THE CHILD!!! This is just evil, she tried to hurt an innocent child and created a story in her head and instead of also being an adult and talking to OP, she tried to traumatise a child to… prove a point? OP is too forgiving, I wouldn’t allow either of those pieces of scum back into my life. OP is an amazing dad and has been open about his adoption of Lily since the beginning, keeping her parents memory alive, yet somehow that’s just not good enough for his brother and sister-in-law who insist on causing problems. But we met when he was 38, so he didn’t lack life experience. Her problem is her immaturity, toxic and ridiculous beliefs and her controlling and unreasonable behaviour. It’s concerning that he threw her a bone and suggested possible reconciliation in the future. She won’t hear ‘possible’, she’ll hear ‘definite’. It’s going to be even harder to break free now.

The 6th story really worried me. It’s the fact that she’s pregnant and her mother and brother are causing her a lot of stress. It still would be totally wrong of course if she wasn’t pregnant. But high blood pressure in pregnancy is extremely dangerous for both parent and child. My blood pressure spiked when I was 28 weeks pregnant. I had a two and a half hour seizure and my son and I nearly died. It wasn’t the thrashing tonic/clonic type seizure. I lost all muscle tone and was really floppy. It started in my sleep and my son’s dad heard me choking on my tongue. He pulled me upright, then let go to turn the light on. I dead weight keeled sideways and smacked my head on the bedside table. He said I didn’t even flinch. Later during the seizure, I was babbling incoherently as my mouth couldn’t form any recognisable speech patterns. My brain was all jumbled and I doubt it would have made sense even if I could. He said I just wasn’t ‘there’. But for brief moments, I occasionally became partially aware. He said that in his whole life, he has never seen the anyone display the absolute, abject terror that was on my face. It was like I was fighting to save my life (I was), but from something that was attacking me. So I would try to stand up, or drag myself along the floor for 10 - 15 seconds or so before it took hold again. He wasn’t thinking logically, but he was worried that if he ran to a neighbour for help, it could have catastrophic consequences. It was 1989, our phone was out of order and we lived in a maisonette with an outside, concrete staircase. He was worried that if he left me, I’d hurt myself or I’d fall down the stairs while trying to ‘escape’ as I’d crawled into the hallway He just stayed with me the whole time to make sure I was safe. I was only aware that something was amiss was an hour or so after it ended. I woke up, went to the bathroom and wondered why my head and tongue were hurting. I looked in the mirror and realised I bitten through my tongue, root to tip on the right side. It was massively swollen and dark purple. I asked him how I could have bitten my tongue in my sleep so badly and not woken myself up. He said in a very shaky voice, “You don’t remember, do you?” and I replied, “Remember what?” At the hospital, I sat with my mouth agape as I watched this very traumatised man tell midwives and doctors what had happened. I had no memory of any of it and had lost all memory of the entire previous day. They were the ones to tell us I’d had an eclamptic seizure. It was a surprise to both of us because we only had knowledge of the more obvious type of seizure. They aren’t usually that extreme because usually the patient gets to hospital and receives treatment quickly. They said we were lucky to be alive and not have any permanent brain damage. Granted, this is an absolute, worst case scenario. But high blood pressure in pregnancy is very detrimental to both the pregnant person and the baby. It is utterly reprehensible that the mother and brother have such callous disregard for the health and well being of OP and her baby.

@SaturnPandaCat
@SaturnPandaCat 28 күн бұрын
Not necessarily. Chlamydia can cause Pelvic Inflammatory Disease and infertility. It’s not always linked to multiple partners either. You can catch it from your cheating partner and have no idea. There are no symptoms and if you believe your relationship is monogamous, you would have no reason to get tested. There are also other surgeries that can cause infertility. I had a drunk surgeon operate on me. He leaned over me just as I was about to receive a general anaesthetic and he reeked of alcohol. I tried to withdraw consent, but it was too late. I was supposed to be having a laparoscopy, just them having a look to work out why my periods were so bad. He hacked off my fallopian tubes and burned my insides with a cauterising iron. It wasn’t discovered until 3 years later when my periods went from bad to horrendous and I had to be fully opened up. ‘Hacked off’ was the actual phrase used when the news was broken to me that I had been sterilised without my consent. As for infertility following a botched pregnancy termination, while it can happen, it’s extremely rare. It is normally a very safe procedure. Far more likely that Chlamydia is the culprit.
@SaturnPandaCat
@SaturnPandaCat 28 күн бұрын
Also, an incomplete miscarriage would also require the same surgery as an abortion/pregnancy termination. If there’s anything left inside it has to be removed to prevent uterine infection, which can in of itself cause infertility. I sense some judgement in your comment. Even if you personally are pro life, you don’t know this person’s individual circumstances. There are a multitude of reasons she could be infertile, so it’s best not to jump to conclusions. If it was due to complications from a termination, she clearly didn’t want the outcome of never being able to have children. She deserves compassion for her infertility, whatever the cause, but not for the way she has behaved towards her husband. If she doesn’t want to have sex, that’s her call. But she can’t sentence him to a life of celibacy because that’s what she’s chosen for herself.

Re: Wedding dress- people can show their true colors the stronger your ties to them gets. If you want to be super sweet? Get MIL’s dress cleaned and freshened up and make sure it fits enough. Then have it there on your wedding day, and have a lovely picture taken of you in the dress after your hair/makeup is done, but before you put on YOUR dress. MIL will have a lovely portrait of you in her dress to show off and shut her up. And YOU get to wear what you want for the actual event.

Gotta love how in story 6 almost all the comments were literally trying to blame him for HER choices. These people act like she's not an adult and can't make choices for herself, he's still wrong for cheating but semantics be damned if she didn't bring this upon herself.

Oh, Markee, my Aussie internet hubby❤ Chagrin' is totally a word. Definition is annoyance or distress at having failed or been humiliated. "to my chagrin, he was nowhere to be see" edit: I am still loving the water story and the op is super sesquipedalian❤ I myself love big words, it annoys people when they can't understand what I'm saying but that's half the fun❤😂.

The story about the stepdaughter that isn’t the husbands after all, his distrust isn’t in the OP. He was spiraling, felt like his whole life was a lie, and his whole brain was screaming, “if that’s not true, what is?!”. Asking for a paternity test was closer to a drowning person grabbing at anything that would float than a genuine lack of trust in OP. Poor husband.

St. 1 - 😂 She has NOT started taking accountability. Man, I want to shake OP so badly. His ex is a CLASSIC narcissist. Anyone who threatens to unalive themselves to stop you from leaving them is 100% a covert narcissist. She 100% cheated on OP. She is obsessed about YOU cheating because she assumes everyone thinks just like she does. That's why she thinks OP is lying because how could anyone possibly be faithful. Lol. When narcissists realize they can't manipulate you anymore, they will pretend to take accountability and go to therapy just to get you back. Once you are back, they will go RIGHT BACK to cheating and obsessing over you being just like them. She will NEVER give up. OP leaving this woman triggers her very severe abandonment issues, and she will pretend to be whoever, just to trap him again. Don't worry... this will get worse for OP, and he will finally realize the only solution to get a covert narcissist out of your life is block and call the cops.

"Chagrin" is French, it just means sadness. I've never heard it from English speakers conversationally, but I read it often in English books. Most of the time, English authors will use the formula "much to my/your/their chagrin". That's what OP did. My guess is OP reads books.

The fist story, the reason they aren't going NC with the fiance as well as the brother is the author didn't expect people to hate that character once the fact she had been manipulated to come to light. The author saw that character as more of a victim.

S1: I never wanted kids and never had any. When I was 46 my mother and I took on care of a young relative (8M) with the double whammy of serious medical issues and crap family, because someone needed to fight for him. He is now 23, still with us and is my kid in all the ways that matter, though I am variously decribed as a (much older) annoying older sister/best second cousin in the world 😂.

In the brother’s mind, because he would never do anything that caring or selfless, neither can his brother. So the daughter OP claims to be taking care of completely out of compassion, must be his biological affair child.
