Just got mine today. Going to use it for reading apple news and kindle and also to take to work. I have a ipad air 5th gen with the M1 at my workstation mounted and connected to an external DAC and headphone amp. Its my media machine while I am working.

well I bought one last summer.. upgraded all of my apple stuff last year! iphone 13pro, ipad mini 6 and the star of the show, m3pro 14".. I use the macbook for most stuff but the ipad is great for kicking back with some lighter stuff when the phone would be a little small. Mostly use it for youtube, web and occasional sketches with a cheap amazon pencil

I don’t get it. Where do you guys live? I am based in Germany and I have never ever seen a person using an ipad mini. Literally everyone is using a 12.9 inch Pro or an 11 inch Pro. Very rarely I see people with a normal ipad or an air, but never a mini. That’s why I do not get when people praise the mini.

Sold my 12.9 inch iPad pro to buy one of these a while ago and don't regret it. Not being able to hold for longer than 20mins when consuming media and having to place on a table when sketching on the iPad pro turned out to be a deal breaker and meant I barely used it. Being able to hold in one hand an take notes in the other meant I could stand in meetings and still take notes and also was more likely to pick it up and take to meetings in the first place. Being able to hold it for longer than 20mins for media consumption meant I could use in in places like on the underground, waiting areas and on the sofa and again more likely to pick up and take with me the first place.

I just bought a screen cover from Astropad that also came with two Apple Pencil tips the size of a regular #7 pen tip. It literally writes like pen and paper. I looked at the one featured here but still the thick imprecise pencil tip. I’ve had the Mini 6 since it came out and it’s my go to device at home. Now with the Astropad I’m also taking it to work and actually using the Notes app like I had intended when I bought it.

Definitely waiting for the iPad mini 7 to see if they will move the screen controller back to the top in portrait orientation. Jelly scrolling is too much for me in the iPad mini 6 in portrait.

As a daily work-note user of an iPad mini 6 (using Goodnotes - awesome app!) I absolutely love the mini 6. I squeeze a huge office dry erase board PDF template into the mini and pinch and zoom in and out of my notes as needed. Then at the end of the shift I save out the pdf into iCloud, where it will live for a few weeks in case I need to reference it, and I then blank out the pdf master - now ready for next shift. Mark, thanks for the link to the alternate pencil, too. I might look into that! EDIT: And a public service announcement if one is using Papperlike.... Clean the screen off ever so often! Especially if the 'grab' of the paper-ness is faded. It just needs a screen clean.

I’ve been saying that I’m waiting impatiently for the 7th Generation, but your video did make me look up how much I’d need to spend to get a 6th Gen now. (I’ve already found out the trade-in price for my 5th Gen.) At the moment, I’m sticking with mine - that might have been different if I’d got an iPhone with USB-C, but I’m still using lightening. I'm a fan of the Mini line but my answer is 'no'. The device dates from 2021 and we're in 2024, which is a lot when you consider the price of the device (not forgetting that in Europe the price of this device has jumped by €200 for no reason in 3 years). What's more, with hindsight, if we put aside the aesthetic change, the mini 6 isn't much different from the mini 5. When the mini 6 came out, I was tempted to sell my mini 5. In the end, I'm still with the mini 5, which after 6 years is still supported by iPadOS and still meets my needs (ebooks and multimedia consumption).

My 10.5" iPad Pro from 2017 is still holding up pretty well to this day. It has the right size for me to watch Series and play games. The Mini is still a little bit to small to keep watching for a longer time periode. So unless this thing breaks i can just sit back and wait for the new devices to come :)

I have been using the iPad Air for a few years now, and I absolutely love it. It's a good device to just carry around and use. I am not sure if I could ever get any smaller when it comes to a tablet, but I do have a couple friends that use the iPad mini. I also have been using the iPhone SE (2020) since it came out, and I love it. These devices just do what I need, and I am rarely on my phone anymore. Literally just for checking emails on the fly, but other than that, messaging and phone calls.

I have both the Mini 6 and the S24Ultra both great devices! I love sketching and writing on my S24U more - it just feels better than the iPad Mini 6 with a paperfeel screen protector. I love painting on the Mini 6 only because of the iPAd only apps. Looking forward to a Mini 7 with proper File management app and screen tiling!

I’m waiting on the mini 7. I just need them to fix the jelly scroll (by fix, I mean move it to the horizontal orientation as the screen tearing is there on all displays) and hopefully we’ll get a base storage increase to 128gb and better battery life. I bought the mini 6 at launch and had to return it because the jelly scroll gave me motion sickness 😢.

All pretty good points. I'm still using an iPad Mini 2, although I also have an M2 iPad Pro 11". But I'd still like a Mini 7 with an A17 Pro chip (which is in the iPhone 15 Pro), with newly designed more rounded edges to make holding it more pleasant. An OLED display with no "jelly role" would also be a plus. 😊

Good video, but already own one. As you say, a Magic Keyboard would be great, but if needed I have a Microsoft universal folding one that is OK and pair that with an old magic Mouse. I have a Logitech pen that was about £50, far cheaper than the Apple Pencil. I tried Paperlike and didn't get on with it, but love the concept.

I was lucky to get my iPad Mini 6 Cellular for 50% off brand new on Amazon back in July. I think it was a price glitch as the price only appeared for a few minutes and then shot back up after I purchased it. Amazon is definitely worth looking at as you can occasionally see steep discounts. I kept it in the basket and kept looking daily to see if the price dropped. The iPad Mini 7 is supposed to only be a minor upgrade, with mainly only the chip getting an upgrade but it'll look identical and will have the same LCD screen. So I don't see why it's worth waiting for. I love the iPad mini 6 and won't upgrade until they eventually bring OLED to the iPad mini which is rumored to be in 2026. The iPad is the only thing in my house that is still had LCD screens and that's the only irritating thing about it

When I got an iPad, I bought the IPad 9th Gen for notetaking back when it was new and honestly, I do not regret that decision at all. But I will also admit, I didn’t know much about the iPad mini when I first got my 9th gen. Sometimes I wonder if I would have gone for it had I known about it. Maybe. The only thing I think I’d have been skeptical about is if it would have worked as a notetaking tool for me… because my hands are rather large and I have heard some complaints since I got my 9th gen about the Mini being a more cramped experience by nature of it being a smaller screen… mostly by people with bigger hands. That being said… I won’t pretend like I haven’t been curious about the iPad mini… but since I already take my 9th gen everywhere easily enough and enjoy taking notes on the 9th gen… would it even be worth it to even buy a secondary iPad to do the same sort of thing? Idk. But I think if someone hasn’t already gotten an iPad, the mini is a great way to go unless you are specifically looking for a budget option with a bigger screen… than the 9th gen has more value than the 10 gen, despite having an older chip set I’d think.

I regrettably just sold my Mini 6 and immediately had seller’s remorse. Got a refurbished 11” Pro as I wanted to be able to log in to my work cloud VM and have enough screen real estate to perform tasks. And for that got a refurb Magic Keyboard. Now it may work out just fine but right now I feel as though my whole use case will change. Time will tell but if and when a mini 7 comes out, I’ll more than likely go back.

I have the iPad mini 6 and I swear it is one of my favorite iPads, It gets the most use. It does everything I need. It’s super portable. I also own a 12.9 inch and an 11 inch both of those are pros, I really don’t need a role model but I love them anyway. The iPad mini 6 is just so easy to throw in a bag or throw in your purse and use it on the go. I just can’t say good things about this awesome iPad.

This is an excellent video. However, for the same reasons that, I picked-up a basic iPad 9th generation and passed on the more modern looking 10th generation version. Here, I would also select the much older iPad mini 5th generation with 256GB and the cell data option and even more so If, I was just getting it manly to be a note taking device (smile...smile).

I actually just got one last week. This is another great product that becomes mostly unnoticed from being named in the vein of something small or basic like "SE" or "mini". Apple needs to find a way to market the SE devices having an older body with a newer chip and mini devices as nearly as good as the pro, just in a small package.

Only Bluetooth 5.0 is supported which does not include support for BLE audio. WiFi 6 and not WiFi 6e is supported. There is also a jelly scrolling effect which supposedly be addressed in the next version.

There is quite a difference in size between an iPad mini and a Max/Plus iPhone due to the aspect ratio so you can’t really compare the two.

I use my iPad 6 every day for gaming and watching shows. If I lost it, I would not get another iPad 6. My main reason is that the storage is so small in the default model that I can't update it without uninstalling the only game I have installed (Genshin Impact). Not having an Mx chip, it also won't be able to be used in some of the iPad OS features. I'm looking forward to the next version of the Mini more than I am looking forward to replacing my iPhone Mini.

I was about to get the mini 6 last March. But Samsung price cuts and discounts were too tempting and I ended up getting a Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+ instead. I was surprised that I could do things more in it than in my iPads.

The iPad Mini, at least for me, is the most iPad of iPads. It does what Steve Jobs said was its purpose as a middle device whereas the bigger ones can be pushed into service as a laptop replacement. I love it. BUT the bugs annoy me, specifically the keyboard one which I’ve had since day one. I’m not sure it is just the mini or every iPad, but if you split the keyboard it tends to migrate up the screen. I have to split in portrait mode and go to landscape mode to get it to stick to the bottom and that doesn’t work every time, or even most of the time. But it’s a mere annoyance rather than a deal breaker.

You make a good point on that mini phone. Rumor has it that the next SE phone will be the iPhone 10. Moving from the fabulously small iPhone 8 ( 4.7 in. ) to a bigger 6.1 inch display. People seem to like larger devices. Hopefully, that won’t happen to the iPad, but you never know 🤔

Face ID I definitely want. I’d love 120 hertz but the battery trade off would be a concern. I’d like Stage Manager for external screens too.

Kills me that it doesn't have FaceID at least. Just switched from Samsung S23 to iPhone 15 (luv both) but FaceID no contest, even thou Samsung has upped the game.

Im one of those stooges that have my little manbag. Phone, wallet, ereader (keys on neck sash). So portability in this way is appealing... The ereader is the same height as a mini (a bit wider) and fits into the little bags i use perfectly (as if theyre designed for a mini)。 An android alternative is possibly an a 8.4" g99/alldotcube, and a 8.8" 8gen1/Y700/144hz. But the aspects are taller/skinnier. i might gosofar asto make a cardboard mockup 😅. Then decide between one of those and a 2nd hand mini.

I've got standard ipad,latest ipad pro 12'9,an old macbook pro and the iphone 15 plus and yes I've been wonderlusting about the mini,well I found the mini 5 which is still supported seemingly in good condition for £130.If I dont like it I'll ebay it.But I'd rather have a feel for it in my hangs than blowing full price when the next one comes out.I love iPad,I think its the best invention since sliced bread-as they say-but they are so expensive and come with so little compared to the extras Samsung give freely-got the watch with me S24 ultra-no chance of that with Apple.

I bought a mini 6 last summer and part of me was worried that a new one would come out in a few months.. but I only paid 400 for a new 64gb from amazon at the time and figured a newer one would have been at least 100 more so I was fine with it on that note alone. Regardless, I don't use my mini for anything too serious anyway.. I've got a macbook pro for that and my previous 2015 ipad mini was still mostly fine when I decided to upgrade, albeit a bit laggy with some things. Anyway go for a mini 6 if you want one, especially if it's just for basic, typical ipad stuff and you can find the right deal. I wouldn't feel right paying full price for one with a new one relatively close. Amazon pricing seems to fluctuate.. It's anywhere from 4-500 whenever I look. Anyway, Mini 6 rocks! again, it's mostly a lighter use recreation device for me but at the same time, it's still capable of doing pretty much everything I use my macbook for if I really wanna go lightweight. It's way less comfortable but still totally doable. It's kind of a perfect in-between for my iphone and macbook.

Wow, here in the US it is $500 for the 64 and 650 for the 256, goes up another, 150 to $800 for the cellular/GPS version. And it does go on sale. I waited and final bought my in September because I gave up on waiting for the new one to come out. I got mine for $629 w/256gb and w/cell/GPS, not a refurb.

I find any iPad bad for note taking because you can’t rest your hand on the screen without triggering something. Also it doesn’t feel like writing…

Gave my Mini 6 to a pal who can use it more. I have an Air 4 256g w/cellular that works just fine. I bought the mini as I thought I'd use it more than my Air 4. Nope. He can put it to use so off it went! It's a cute little device though.

Picked up the mini 6 , 256 GB, cellular, from Amazon ( renewed premium) for $530 .. it is brand new ( has 1 charge cycle on the battery ) !! Totally ecstatic.. Plus, Amazon renewed premium devices ( at least in the US ) come with a 1 year return policy!
