I make handmade natural haircare and cutesy accessories and I sell my products on my Etsy shop and at in-person markets/fairs. I also share tons of knowledge about running a small business! In this vlog, I'm taking you guys along with me for a day as I go to my local farmer's market! I vend at this farmers market on Thursdays and Its super small, but intimate! I had a really great day & I surpassed my goal! I attend markets alone and as y'all can see a lot goes into doing them, but they are worth it! I am also a mama to a 3-year-old baby girl, so I'm just out here trying to juggle it all!

I am 29 years old, and I have a 3-year-old daughter. I am a single mama and a small business owner. I started X M Beauty when I was 4 months postpartum after suffering really bad from postpartum hair loss. I created natural products to not only grow my hair, but also heal my scalp! I enjoy sewing so much, that I added it to X M Beauty! I make scrunchies, bonnets, tote bags, cosmetic bags, wristlets, bows, and more! I love to learn and share knowledge! Pricing is basic costing. The biggest mistake I find that a lot of handmade people make is that they don't include their own labor in the cost of the product. I have been doing craft and trade fairs for 25 years. Labor doesn't just include making the products. Going to purchase supplies, going to the craft fair or trade show. These all take up your time and you should be paid for it. Otherwise you might as well go work for someone else and have weekends off. Also, don't try to do a fair every weekend. Time spent at fairs is time you are not manufacturing. I look forward to seeing how you do at the bigger shows. Remember that you are paying for people when you book a show. Little shows are appealing beacause they are cheaper, but as I have seen on a couple of your vlogs, very low attendance. As the old saying goes, work smarter not harder. I made tons of mistakes when I started. I give a particular show 3 tries. I aim now for shows that have really good attendance or have proven very profitable even though the number of people might be lower. I have subscribed to your vlog and will enjoy followi8ng your progress. Keep at it. The first while is a lot of education. You have lots of positive energy, and that is great in a business where you are dealing with customers every day.

Hi Jill, thank you fir leaving this comment! I agree with the pricing. I am going to sit down and calculate everything and the. Adjust my prices. I found a really good pricing formula online. As for the farmers' market I had to sign up for the whole season may-October so I am pretty much obligated to attend! The first few I was ready to cancel my contract, but after a while I started to build a small community which I'm grateful for! It pays some bills for now!! BTW , I was wondering do you need a video editor for quality video editing . I went through your channel and realized you might need a video editor who can edit videos for cheap . If your average retention on videos is less than 50% than you need to invest in good-quality video editing to keep viewers hooked so that you keep growing . I would love to help .
