In 2006 a few friends got together and made a movie on the streets of Dublin in January. A film by John Carney, starring Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová - Once. Film Stills Photography by David Cleary, video by Markéta Irglová.
David Cleary is a Dublin based photographer and a dear friend.
He captured many wonderful moments pre & post Once, some of which are included in this video.
David’s photographs remain a true gift to all of us who lived those moments in time, offering a precious opportunity to revisit them and feel just how much they still resonate within our hearts, even to this day.
Those of you who have held Once close to your heart throughout the years will surely appreciate this journey as well. Thank you for watching.

One of the BEST movies ever made. Beautiful music, lovely story full of simple humanity, love... It had everything. It really feeds your soul. It did not feel like I am watching a movie, it felt like a real life. I have seen the movie many times. Every time it is on TV, I have to watch it. As I said, it feeds the soul. I really would like to go to one of your concerts. I will try to make it.

My favourite song for the rest of my life I'm sure! Reminds me of my lovely wife who lives far away from me now. I hope someday I'll get her back and she'd be in my arms forever again. My soul crushed into pieces when I saw her for the last time. It was raining and I was standing there watching her go with her mama. And her eyes were wet not for the rain, I think for something she had for me deeply. Oh I pray to my lord! I want my sweetheart with me!

Omg. I remember watching Just Once about 20 years ago. I thought it was groundbreaking and revolutionary. Netflix was a movie disk mailing and renting company. Cell phones were much bigger and only used for phone calls. Life was just about to be introduced to my space, and desktop computers were on each and every desk, both at work and at home. I read an interview of yours just a few years ago. You're a housewife with a beautiful family. While Glen went on to play on many big stages and stadiums u opted for what many would call a simpler lifestyle. I don't think it's a sinker lifestyle. U just felt the need to take a different path and for that u should honored and appreciated. I really do feel that way! However, me and Glen both look old now, while u maintained a much younger demeanor. Lol. Even this song has an overtones of sadness and maybe regret, I do believe u leaving the music scene is a blessing ❤. Please don't have any regrets. I live in Cherry Hill, New jersey,u.s.a.. I've had chrones and colitis for 35 years. I've watched my adult life pass from sofas and hospital beds. By the time I recovered from one surgery, it was time for the next. I had few friends and even fewer musical chances to be on a stage or in a film. I think your amazing. I think the world would welcome u back with open arms.
