One of the best card videos on the internet . I just started collecting again about a year ago . Wish this would have been available. Thanks for this awesome video. It’s crazy how it has evolved from when I was a kid in the 90’s.

Great video T-Pott. You provided an amazing analysis on the different card eras with candid yet very helpful advice. You are right, the key when assessing your collection (Both where it is and where you are taking it) is to be honest in determining it’s true monetary value verses your personal attachment to it. 44 Years into my collectables journey, I am happy to have built a nice collection which I can proudly showcase; however, rare and slabbed cards only make up a fraction of what I have. When checking in to see how much I enjoy collecting, the answer thankfully has always been a resounding “I want to keep going!”. When the day comes where I sell off my collection (I do not have any children or nieces/nephews to hand it down to), I fully realize it will be a very tactical and money driven negotiation and that’s ok. Buyers do not care about sentimentality nor should they. Until then, I keep going with what has made me happy since 1980, busting packs & boxes as well as checking off items on my want list once those treasures have been acquired. Cheers - Brian.

Thanks for the kind words, Brian. Collecting is a fun journey! It's great that you periodically do a 'self-check' to ensure you're still having fun. I always tell people there's no shame in hitting the pause button or even the "Fin" button, if it's time to move on. We all have corners of the Hobby that put a smile on our faces. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I hope it helps people!

Thanks for glossing over the serial #'d cards/inserts in the early 90's. Keeps them (hopefully) that much cheaper

I always find it funny that new people list the pack odds on their listings. The odds are meaningless in most instances, its got to be a card people want, and cards that are hard to pull are often not even the most desired cards.

I like having pack odds info, but it's certainly not the be all end all.

Once I turned 18 my mother passed on her and her father(my grandfather) basketball cards over to me she had the entire 1989-90 hoops set encluding checklist cards untouched. Along with the entire skybox 89-90s set and I will forever cherish the collection

I don't understand why RAW cards are often higher priced than a PSA 9
@MarketMovers3 ай бұрын
They aren't on older cards. On newer cards, I suppose it's because many sets have gem rates of 50-60%, so buyers figure they have a shot at a PSA 10 and getting 3x their money that way?
@vintagecollector53403 ай бұрын
Its all a scheme. People sending their cards in for hopes for a gem grade, but they don't understand that it's all artificial scarcity.

I am a paying MM member and have enjoyed it. However, I was completely floored that your own CardsHQ members at Fanatics Fest was using another program to comp cards (mine were modern, common cards) that they were buying rather than MM. My MM comps were different than the comps that they were finding using a competing app. T-pot, what’s up with that???

Hey T pot (or whoever), quick question about market movers- does the database account for shipping involved in the transactions? For instance, there’s a big difference (~25-30%) between buying a $20 card on eBay with say $5.99 shipping compared to the same $20 card with free shipping. Would market movers report both of these sales the same even though the cost to the buyer is significantly different? Or since most of the data presumably comes from eBay does it account for that? Thanks!

Hi there, No unfortunately ebay doesnt (presently) make shipping expense accessible as part of their API which is what makes tracking price variance on cards

I love your program and your presentation, but you act like hockey cards are not collectable, every program seems to disrespect hockey 😢 ,it's always been my favorite sport. Please show more about hockey the greatest of all the sports, especially vintage hockey 🏒 howe,hull,Howe, Richard, ORR.

This is the best video ever, your card's are not worth a thing until you let them go for penny's, then you can buy them back from these guy's after a little juice & rubbing for a fortune. 😅
