What do you think about applied economics master's program? I live in California and UCLA and a few other schools in my area offer an applied or quantitative economics master's. I'm not sure if I should go into that or a PhD.
@MarketPowerYT4 жыл бұрын
I'm a little skeptical of 1-year masters programs. But if it is a natural extension of what you're doing right now then it could be a good option. For example, if you discovered economics late and didn't get all of the classes you wanted then a 1-year masters could be a good option.

The rest of my transcript (so far) has been good, and this would be my first non-A grade that I can remember. Does the severely hurt or ruin my chances of getting into a good grad school even if I can do better in my other math classes down the line?

Quel tu pense de the Miller's Analogy Test(MAT)? I mean, I'm applying to the MIAGE program at the U (completely unrelated to economics for the most part) and they only ask to be 51st percentile in the MAT, but is there any reason to go and try to impress them further?
@MarketPowerYT4 жыл бұрын
First, I can't even understand why someone would want to go to the U....But this is the only program I've ever even heard of that accepts the MAT. I would go with the GRE in case you want to explore other programs. No matter which test you take, you should always try the best to impress.

Math tends to increase your chances the most. Schools like to see you have the math background to deal with the theory. I'm not sure about age. I've seen older students in PhD programs. If you're just graduating from undergrad, they probably don't care.

I know a lot of people who worked as RAs after graduation to improve their chances of getting into a good school. For some it worked, for others it didn't change much.
