I love how serious all the voices became near the end of the game as he slowly became more attached and worried for all the characters. I am back seven years later, and I just discovered that someone (not the original developer) is remaking Presentable Liberty in high-definition graphics, there is a Steam page, Discord server, everything! It is a pretty small community, but it deserves so much attention. I remember watching this when I was just a kid, and it was the first time I was ever so emotionally effected by a piece of fiction. I really hope this remake gets more attention, it would be a nice tribute to Wertpol, god bless him.

Charlotte's gramophone is one of the most upsetting parts of this game, not just because of the somber tone the music sets, but because of what it could've accomplished; had Charlotte kept playing it Salvador could've found her, giving Charlotte the will to go on living and she potentially could have saved Salvador from acting brashly when he sets out to free the main character, maybe saving his life in the process as well.

Last August my biggest worry was my social anxiety and going back to middle school. I had no idea my parents would get a divorce, my dog would be diagnosed with Lukemia and shortly after be put down, my theater show we had been working for my last season with my second home, which was the theater, my only friends were there. Mark didn’t even meet these people, but he still was pained to see their hardships. He felt sad for Mr. Smiley, sad for Charlotte, enjoyed Salvador’s table he handcrafted. He knew he was playing a game but the loneliness of the cell made him so excited for every letter that came in. Everything was falling apart in a span of days. This lets play is so interesting but honestly I got emotional too while watching. This game was so powerful and had an impact on anyone playing or watching. I’d just like to say this was really a work of art and it’s sad to see a wondrous creator pass away. He will be missed but his legacy will continue on forever...

I think Charlottes notes were scary. I saw Smileys ending coming, considering how he wrote and how his happiness was only caused by blackmail and obviously Dr. Money was lying(I kinda assumed smth happened to the kids already), so seeing Charlottes notes about how she was giving up already-how she was doubting anyone else was even getting her notes-it scared me that she wouldn’t make it. I was right to fear that. In the end, I kinda blamed myself for not getting to her in time, but it was all of our faults. Or, rather, it wasn’t any of our faults. Sometimes things don’t work out.. sometimes you can’t save someone who needs you. It’s just the way the river flows.

The meaning behind this game is so dark, its supposed to make you understand what depression could feel like, being trapped alone and being in your own little dark cell with people trying to help you and only hurting themselves trying to, and at the end what what cost. When you finally break out of your cell and try to come out to people sometimes it takes a dark turn and everything goes horribly wrong, the "virus" was supposed to symbol all of the bad things in your life happening, like losing friends or family, having situations come up that you cant get out of...this game does the greatest job at representing these things.....I cant imagine what the developer had to go through to be able to describe/represent all of this

It's weird that I watched this video when it first came out at almost 12 years old, now here I am, 8 years later 20 years old. It feels like it wasn't too far in the past yet it feels like it was a lifetime ago. Nothing was happening, you couldn't see any people, yet you knew they were dying en mass to an invisible threat, the virus. For real man. I was just 10 years old when this came out and i watched it. Even then i found it profoundly crushing, but now it takes on a whole new meaning. The 'prison' cell perfectly mirrors what it's like to be all alone and suffering from mental illness. I have a few posters and a window and a desk, but that doesn't change the fact that it's just me. I have a door but i can't open it, i can't face the outside world because there's nothing for me there, it terrifies me. My room isn't a literal prison just as the elevator isn't a literal cell, but it's become one through forces outside of my control. Presentable Liberty is a masterpiece in several aspects, and I'll probably keep revisting this video once a year or so for a long time to come

This game really just shows how much you can get attached to someone just by reading letters. Halfway through, I noticed that Mark had stopped playing games and more of waiting for a letter. When Charlotte played the music, Mark really wanted Charlotte to hear him. Now about the Happy Buddy, you can really tell how much they try to get their daughters back. The Happy Buddy does really try. You can tell that they are slowly turning insane by sending letters to stop the prisoner from committing suicide. Dr. Money is just pure evil. He took the Happy Buddy’s daughters. Other then all of that, we need everyone to know about Wertpol’s death. He committed suicide somewhere in June 2018. He made this game, which stopped him from being depressed and wanting to commit suicide for a bit, until the game had died down. Wertpol had contacted Mark to make the game “viral” again, but failed. Someone had commented on the game saying that it stopped them from committing suicide which had completed one of his achievements. Overall, this game just really touches your heart and puts this in a perspective of what it feels like to be alone. R.I.P Wertpol ????-2018.

Looking back on this was like a slap to the face. I never truly realized the emotion packed into Mark's voice until I watched that again on 7/14/22. I know that the fact that Charlotte didn’t stand the loneliness and had to commit suicide. But, why is nobody talking about Mr. Smiley? His story is really sad, he was just a father that was worried about his daughters… He had to fake about that he was happy, trying to ignore the fact that her daughters were in danger, he had to spend lots of money to keep the player “happy”, or “entertained”, he had to even sell one of his lungs, just to after know that Doctor Money already killed his daughters. And even after knowing that his daughters were dead, he still sacrificed his whole body just to buy the last game he could give us with his last money…

I think Mr. Smiley is supposed to represent the creator. Actually I think all of them are (exclusing Dr. Money), including the guy in the cell. For those outside the cell, you aren't responding so they have no clue if they're being heard. They're so lonely. They're so depressed. For you, the guy in the cell, you can't respond to anyone. You're so frustrated because they just can't hear you. You silently grieve, wishing that they'll keep sending you letters but at the same time dread every letter since you can't respond to it. The creator killed himself in June of 2018. He was diagnosed with clinical depression and I think this game is a means to represent what he was going through.

Honestly I think this game deserves a lot of credit for being an incredible art piece on the horrors of capitalism, for-profit healthcare, and the prison industrial complex. Some of this went over my head when I first watched this playthrough as a teenager, I just thought of it as a standard dystopian game, but now I can see how real this game actually is.

i wholeheartedly agree. no one understands it seems the horrors of capitalism and the prison industrial complex. knowing that the creator killed themselves. well, it hits home. when people open their eyes to our dystopian nightmare, they end up alone, on opposition to everyone they try to warn. like a reality that only you live in, only you can see. what weird is that throughout this entire game, the characters are trying to keep you happy, but the more you play this game, the more isolated you start to feel, and the more you question if anything in this game is real, and you start to feel more depressed because the characters stop bringing letters, you know that they are dead and the depression kicks in, and its almost like real life. we are all prisioners to society, and we cant escape unless we die, people want you to act happy so they feel good, they dont care how you really feel. and when people stop reachng out you start to actually feel depressed and want to escape society more cause you feel like nothing is real anymore. EDIT: damn i was really depressed when I wrote that comment

Honestly i always stick with living outside the box. There will always be more people who generally dont care over those who do care and those people i stick with and my emotional state has never been something that bothered me. Even if im mostly depressed and always near the edge of taking the final dive its not a thing i will ever do no matter what i lose in my life and ive lost alot at this point and it drove me to be a alcoholic and drink my life away. The part where living outside box comes in, the one person who i know that actually cares and doesnt do it to feel good about themselves asked me to stop and i stopped. You only need you and one other to keep yourself from diving off the cliff. Society has no meaning to me cause i dont have to live in this society only its economy if you catch what i mean i hope. I never accept pity, thats why im happy even when im depressed. Because i dont have to listen to broken records while im suffering. Also living in near isolation does open your eyes alot wider to the world, even if its dull and grey it makes it easier to see the colorful things and people who are sincere. Its cause when spend that much time alone you start to think about many things and sorta speak to yourself but in your head alot more and can eventually you see the lies you tell yourself that you were blind to for years so seeing others lies is like spotting a cow in a herd a rabbits in dark small grass. The language, the tone, the reactions. Its easy to tell whos genuine and whos not at that point. Now am i genuine? Society may decide if i am or not but with 7billion people on this planet one is bound to see past what society tells them so i dont care what society tells me who i am. They simply are not me. Now where was i going with this? I dunno. Just me rambling on i guess. It could all mean nothing or something, well if its helpful then im happy. Someones bound to find this helpful
