It’s good to watch someone’s technique, especially when they know their stuff and explain the how and why as they do it. I generally don’t like music with my DIY videos-it’s almost always distracting and some people just don’t know how to be subtle about it, while others lack a sense of appropriate music. The music here is just plain weird-oddly enough, I didn’t find it off putting. It seemed appropriate!

Repeat as needed until you get a splashy wave result. You can do this to enhance what you already have. I have done this on several layouts, you will love the result. @willparsons324 жыл бұрын
Well, I finally broke down and bought a roll of toilet paper and tried the toilet paper water... As I applied the watered down glue mixture, I realized why you had to add 3-4 layers of TP to the "harbour"... After applying about three layers, The toilet paper started making its own waves with the pushing of the paint brush (like the one you're using) so I decided that the tiny waves would be of perfect size as my layout is N scale. Although this procedure requires 72 -76 hours of drying time (depending on the humidity in the air) I think it is well worth the effort. One thing people should know if they do decide to do their water this way - Buy yourself some cheap white glue - it can get real expensive using good quality/brand name stuff! I would also wait until the toilet paper has fully dried before painting and adding the clear coat. Makes it easier to use the brush and not clog it up unintentionally as most soggy plasters do.

KZbin recommends a 3 year old, modeling and crafting video, on a subject I've never looked at before. Good job YT, occasionally, you make good suggestions. A bit of clarity... At 3:30, where the modeller is "adding waves", - this is done by using the brush to push some of the layered TP into different depths, and, IT'S DONE WHILE THE TP AND GLUE *IS STILL MOIST*! In my mind, I was thinking forward, and shunned that the glue/layers had dried.

wow, great stuff! been worrying about having to play around with resins so it's incredible to see such good results available with much simpler materials!

I gotta say this looks really dang good for toilet paper! The texturing and paint blending really sell it. Good job!

I don't do stuff like this, but I do paint and I'm going... "Huh...Wonder if I can do that on canvas?!"

Same here - I love the photorealism of the water here, but the closest I personally get to doing art is photography, which doesn’t require nearly as much patience as painting or sculpting do😅

@@AliSwanson1728 I do black and white drawings because I can't paint. Even crayons is a challenge for me.

@@B33nj4m1n I think photography is harder than drawing. Life is so fast that if you don't shoot at the right time, you've missed it. And while something similar might come along, you'll never get the exact shot you were aiming for. When I draw though, I can always erase, or start over and achieve exactly what I wanted.

I keep coming back to this video every time I do my river scene on my layout. I always need to check the drying times between coats. Thanks for doing these - they are inspiring!
