Thank you Markos, for mentioning C&R. Coming from fishing in freshwater all my life where I don't know a single person who has killed a fish in the last 20 years. Now I recently started shore jigging in the Mediterranean and I'm surprised that literally no saltwater anglers release their fish. They look at me like I'm from Mars when I say that I only do C&R.
@MarkosVidalis2 жыл бұрын
Well brother in Mediterranean, there is a strong tradition regarding eating the fish. A tradition as strong as in Asia (Japan, China etc.) I also love to eat fish at least two times per week. But that doesn't mean that I have to keep and freeze everything I catch. I prefer to balance things in my life, including my catches😊 Thank you very much for your comment ☺️
@michalzajic8602 Жыл бұрын
You should come to southeast asia and you will see they never release any fish even 10cm long they keep it!
@juliushamm44403 ай бұрын
Because catch and release alone makes no sense. The point of fishing is to feed your family. I also come from freshwater fishing where I have released almost every fish and have questioned this more and more. Whether what I'm doing is really right. A few years ago I also started shore jigging and at the same time realized that amberjack, dentex & co are damn tasty! And since then it all makes more sense again. Of course you release small fish, no question. But the idea should be to take a nice fish with you and enjoy it with friends or family. And if you do it that way and respect Mother Nature, it's all okay. I just think you should ask yourself whether you really want to hurt fish just to pass the time and expose them to unnecessary stress and never have the intention of eating one of These fish.. Thats not the point of fishing, that is torturing animals. No hate, but we should all reflect on our own behavior. You probably think you are doing exactly the right thing because you release every fish. Unfortunately, there are fish that don't survive at all. Or are so weakened that they become easier prey for other animals. Tight lines :)

Marcos, I’ve been watching your videos every day for a month now. This really helps me understand what real sea fishing is. All my life I have fished only in fresh water and now, thanks to you, I decided to catch sea fish. I am very grateful to you😊🤝 Thank you for the Russian subtitles!

Markos Vidalis is definitely one of the best Anglers in the world, he is an encyclopedia of knowledge both about technical aspects, but also of the fish and sea itself and fish behavior and habitat, what was equally great to see is embracing "Catch and Release" if we all do this, let's our kids catch giants, would be a good subject of how to release a fish safely (larger fish/groupers) breathing them before release, and even venting fish like grouper who fill with air .. Thank you for embracing Catch and Relase and sharing it for awareness, awesome video and amazing catches and knowledge as always 🎣🧿 Keep it up tight lines

Hi , I’m am enjoying your videos. I am new to shore jigging and wanted a bit of advice….i going to Cape Verde in the summer … mostly stickbaits and poppers for jacks but I would like to shore jig aswell….. what strength (pe ) braid are you using on medium setup and what is the lightest leader you will run off the rocks? I have a 9ft shore spinning rod rated to 40g …. Do you feel this is too light? Regarding a selection of jigs… what would you suggest? Are you generally running fast jigs? Or will you sometimes cast slow jigs. Thanks guy

Hi Hassan. I believe that you could try, but from my experience with this jig in shore jigging, it has too much resistance at this weight. You will get tired and you need a powerful rod to jig it properly.😊

more than calm or rough seas .. the problem is finding the fish, a place like this in the video is a paradise, no nets and high cliffs and consequently immediately deep seabed, but it is the fish that often missing from me in Italy, yesterday I saw 2 barracudas near the bank, I cast them in front, sideways, at a distance but nothing they just went straight without even turning to look at the bait and it's not the first time what do you recommend when they are not active? As always congrats on the bigg catches 👍✌️

Very nice and informative video. About your last question... What is the purpose of going fishing? To catch fish. Do you know, and by that I mean do you ACTUALLY KNOW what sizes of fish are in the selected area you fish? Even if you know that the place is a route that Albacores and Amberjacks use, do you know if there are 4kg fish in there or the 1-1,5kg you caught? Maybe there are a couple 4kg ones, but among 20 smaller ones what are the chances? Of course it's a successful fishing trip, of course I (we) like these videos, and it's not just because you caught fish. It's because you know how you succeeded and you can explain it to us. Thank you. Keep up the good work.

Markos when do u think winter starts and ends? What should we check? Temp, water temp, wind?
@MarkosVidalis2 жыл бұрын
Hi Onur. Last years winter seems to start in January brother and finish around late February in our region. Wind doesn't matter but water temperature should be around 16-17 degrees during mid day

Wonderful work Vidalis. I'd like to fish with you there for a day. Where do you usually fish? If so, what line do you use for that fishing? The thickness of the line? The thickness of bottom line? Greeting

Hi Neco. In Greece I mostly fish in the Cyclades, Argolic, Saronic, Euboic and Corinthian gulf, and Ionian. I mention my line details at the end of each video ☺️

Nice explanations my friend. Thank You a lot for such stuff... I'm from Croatia and never tried your technique... Jigging for years with silicone lures (seabass mostly) because my terrain is very shallow and max depth which I can achieve from the shore is 5-6 m. Honesty, do You think it makes sense to jig with lures similar as You in such conditions? Note - I've seen (especially in last few years) amberjacks of 80-120 cm in a metre of water. Best wishes!
@MarkosVidalis2 жыл бұрын
Hi Dusko. In 5-6 meters jigs won't work. But sinking pencils like deep Walker and cast Hacker do work. So yes you could definitely try. ☺️
