The Osprey is my favorite bird. I was working in Burbank California. There was city for at least 15 miles in every direction. To my suprise, on top of a telephone pole was an Osprey. We were working next to the concrete lined Los Angeles River. A small stretch of river where we were has a natural gravel and rock bottom. This Osprey was living in the city fishing in the Los Angeles River. I've seen plenty of Osprey in Montana where I go every year to fish. This was the first and only one I've seen in Los Angeles. I love your picturs, thank you.

I am a new subscriber from the UK. I live in London miles away from ospreys but I had the joy of seeing the Arkaig and Loch of the Lowes osprey family last year and since then they're my favourite raptor. I've never seen them before. Looking at the live cam at Loch Arkaig is just great. I didn't see any in flight over water so I was glad to be able to watch your wonderful footage and enjoy your narration. The osprey, like all raptors are under protection here in the UK and they have made an amazing comeback after having been hunted to extinction in the last century here. Since 1970s their numbers have increased. Now I look forward to more videos from you. Thank you.

Great photography! Thanks! Here's an Osprey story for you. Many years ago in the Florida Keys, several sailboats were built at "the House of Goats and Boats." One resident named his sloop the Osprey. When it came time to step on the mast, a big party was gathered at a local harbor to help assist him. As soon as Bill hanked on the sails and the boat came to life, we heard a bird shriek above and looked up just as an Osprey landed on the top of the mast! As the flotilla of sailboats set course for the Florida Bay, the Osprey took to flight with another shriek and led us sailors to open water, flying just ahead in the lead. It was a magic time.

Photos do not do justice to this Majestic bird , Ospreys are an awesome sight to see , I was one of the fortunate ones who had an off spray fish and eat on a pine tree across the street from my house , An Osprey landed on a pine tree in Port Charlotte Florida eating what was fished out of the water canals , about a hundred yards away from behind my house I used a small rifle scope and try to look at it from in between the branches of an oak tree , looking at me moving its head up and down a couple times determining that I was a threat of some sort immediately took off , on the next occasion it landed again on the same tree ... I took my camera out and started taking pictures and filming it , for some reason I was tolerated and it just sat there eating its meal , it was an amazing sight to see .

I loved the story telling almost as much as the Osprey photos! I am one that has sat hour upon hour watching the nest cams and learned so very much about the Osprey and that those that write the books don't really have a clue. The male does a lot more then bring fish to the nest. He brings fish and then as walked on and taken a beak to the females feathers in the wings, all in attempts to get her up off of the eggs, so he can have a chance to incubate the eggs. I know not as exciting but the antics on the nest are awesome and would love to see you photograph some. The male feeding chicks, and has also fed the female while she is incubating the eggs. It is all totally amazing!

Incredible photos. I live in Louisville, KY and am 83. I have never tried to take pics of birds, and certainly no osprys. They must be very rare in this area. However, I was told there was an ospry nest on a 60-foot tower between a very small lake and the Ohio River. I followed the directions and finally found the nest, but no bird. I waited and waited and waited and finally an ospry flew in an landed on the tower of a crossmember next to the nest. It had a partially eaten fish in one talon. I waited and waited again and the bird jumped into the nest, then poked its head out not moving. I waited and waited again, and just as I was about to pack up and leave, the ospy took off in flight directly above me. I had already put up my pod, gimbal mount and D500 with my 200-500 lens. Of course, I didn't have time to set up my pod rig again, so I simply began shooting handheld. I had my camera's focus on the two back-buttons like you had instructed in your video, but I had practiced using them only for a short period in my backyard. Needless to say, I was pushing buttons, zooming in and out everywhichwaybutloose, while the bird circled the tower. I finally was able to get the ospry in my viewfinder and I frantically continue to push one button and then the other. In post, I was very happy with my still pics of the bird on the tower, but quite disappointed with it in flight. I never got a focus that satisfied me, but there was no doubt what the bird was. I go into long detail here, just to let you know how much I now appreciate your wonderful skill and talent. I shall try again, but with only one or two birds to practice on, my attempts may be few and far between. Keep up the fabulous work. I subscribed several months ago and always look forward to your issuing another video.

Sir, I've been filming birds for over 30 years on professional projects and have wanted to get the perfect video sequence of an Osprey catch. I've come close, but always a small focus misjudge, a slight overshoot of camera movement as the bird hits the water, less than ideal light, ugly background...you get it. Never all elements coming together at one time for me. I realize, too, how much MORE of your efforts have been focused on this amazing bird. That being said, your work is THE ultimate I've ever seen of the Osprey and the passion when you speak of it is stunning. I'm so glad to know there are folks like you who mainly focus on getting the ESSENCE of one species. Bless you, Mark.

I stumbled across this video and sat mesmerized with (literal) tears in my eyes at how beautiful these phots are and how awesome it must have felt when you reviewed the photos from each excursion. Great job doesn’t even begin to express the Kudos you deserve.

Hi Mark . Another just breathtaking video! So cool to see the Ospreys. I live on a lake that the Ospreys and other birds live and feed on. I feed the songbirds and hummingbirds. They are always glad to have a easy and good meal . My point ? You are welcome to come here for a while and see why I love my home . Georgia is my home . The things that come into view are just really cool. Come on by and join the fun . Thanks again.

Impressive photography combined with brilliant captivating natural history storytelling! I learn so much from the photographic techniques you share and the great stories you tell while doing so. Thank you so much. I spent six years in Grand Teton National Park as a U.S. Park Ranger , Park Manager and wildlife photography enthusiast. My family and I would raft the Snake River almost weekly spring and summers watching Osprey and Bald Eagles catch fish, river otters playing along the river banks, watching families of ducks and geese and eagles growing up and occasionally have beaver slap their tails at our oars to show their displeasure with our intrusion into their home territory. Osprey are truly amazing and you have captured their nature so well in your photography! Thank you for sharing your talented photography and your knowledge of these amazing creatures with us so we can become both better photographers and wise stewards of these wonderful and amazing natural treasures. Thank you ! John Krambrink

No doubt, we live on a creek in VA and watch Osprey fish in the warmer months. Awesome birds, love to see and hear them. Hoping to put up a pole one day for a future generation to nest. Thx.

I can’t say that I’m ever too interested in watching a video of pictures, but these were incredible photos from beginning to end! You got my Sub and looking forward to seeing what’s next!

Mark, you would love seeing our California Osprey action here in San Diego. I've been fortunate to watch Ospreys catch and fly off with Corbinas, some almost as large as the bird himself. The beach at Del Mar has a few resident Osprey who are amazing predators.

I've already commented three times in the first 2 minutes, this is my last comment LOL. I've lost some people in my life very close to me, and I want to get a tattoo with a bird of prey and their initials. No doubt it was going to be a bald eagle, but after a few minutes of this video it's going to be an osprey I think. Thank you for posting this. Phenomenal stuff
