In this video I show you how to make a napkin ring out rope. This time we are using a turk's head knot for the job.
This is an excellent project for beautifying your table. It gives it a bit of a nautical look.
In this video I am using a 3 pass version of the knot, but you can easily add more passes if you are using smaller diameter rope. I recommend using rope between 1/8 of an inch to 1/4 of an inch in diameter.
Enjoy the project!

Marko Awesome way to secure the ends of a knot. I’ve glued, as well as, sewn the ends with clear fishing line when using stranded cord. Thanks for sharing; I now have an added tool in my arsenal of knot know how. Donald

Dear Mark, thank you for sharing this! I’m celebrating Thanksgiving this weekend and was in the shops today for the table setting, but napkin rings are ridiculously expensive. This diy makes for lovely, textured, natural napkin rings. I used cheap 2-3mm sisal, and went around 4 times in stead of 3. I used a bit of tape (washi but I’m sure any kind will do) to stick the standing hand to the cilinder/pvc. Another piece of tape over the working end to harden the nib makes the fourth pass loads easier. To speed up the process I simply tied the loose ends together with a double knot, flipped the ring inside out, and glued down the knot with some wood glue for extra security. Looks lovely and works a treat, and much better than paying €24+ for 8 modern napkin rings! Thanks for sharing your talent, kind regards from the Netherlands.

Thank you, Mark, for this tutorial. I hope to use this to make some nautical-style napkin rings for my son with lighthouse ornaments glued on them. Blessings!

Thank-you for sharing this. My husband used to make something like this in Scouts, it was called a woggle, or scarf-ring. I will certainly make some of these for our new table when we move 🙂

Mark, Thank you i had trouble at first then your complete easy to follow instructions put me back on tract. I saw a napkin ring I really liked it was $75 for 6 and it was a cream satin rope with a simple tassel. I started to look for instructions on how to make that one when I ran across your napkkn ring holders. I love the simplicity. I used a Tortilla rolling pin instead of the pvc. IT worked as well. I looke forward to subscribing and liking your video. Cant wait to see them all. Please keep up the great work.

I was thinking you are making this the wrong way round until you got to the way you splice the ends in,do you know that with any Turks head you can double it from the bottom like a rooftops knot or from the top like a diamond knot?
