What is your thoughts on the zoom mixer
@TheSeanBampton9 ай бұрын
Hi Markus, these videos are amazingly helpful for someone like me who's just getting started in hybrid meetings and seminars. One thing to confirm, that the USB connection is mix-minus, so the people online don't hear themselves when they speak? Many thanks for your help.

Hey Marcus, great video. It and a couple others you've done have helped out with some issues in hybrid meetings we're setting up. We still have one big issue though that I was hoping you could point me in the right direction. The venue is a gym that has a PA system that has some Shure GLXD24/SM58 wireless mics hooked up to it. The mixer in the PA system is a TOA M-633D which has a stereo recording output (RCA) that we connect to a Rolls AV Presenter DB14b and then connect that to a laptop to get the sound from the gym's mixer into our zoom. We'd like to be able to have the zoom participants speak to the gym over the gym's speakers, so through the PA system. We have a second mixer (a Yamaha MG10XU that has an FX send output) that we can use but would like to keep the mics connected to the PA system's mixer. The problem I have is I can't wrap my head around how to make it work without audio feedback when the people in the zoom speak to the room. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance Marcus!

Does it really give you audio feedback if you connect the output from Zoom to the input on the mixer? It shouldn't, because the mixer should be eliminate the effects of all the inputs.

Thanks for the video. If you can cover how to take the output of an older mixer without a usb output into a laptop it would be great.

That's a great topic for a future video! You can probably use the headset output and then input via an audio cable and a USB sound card.

Mixer audio (split L/R or an aux out) out into an audio interface (like a focusrite but choices abound. my favorite is Presonus because you get Studio One for free), interface USB out to computer USB in. select the interface in sound settings as microphone input.

Am I right to say that with this kind of set up for zoom hybrid meeting even if I am using an external speaker for audio and microphone I will not get any echo/feedback? Is there any other way to do this like using a small/portable sound card for example?

In general, so long as all the audio in and out runs through the same laptop, you won't get echo. If you can connect all the audio to that sound card, that should work.

I have been getting audio feedback ( a lot!!!) while running hybryd zoom meetings. Scenary: I install the interpreter console, and an external USC Yeti microphone to interpreter's laptop. I get the Interpreter's audio from the main mixer, and interpreter uses an FM transmiter to send to the user's receivers. And when hybrid zoom meeting starts, either feedbck starts or original sound is lost from Zoom until Interpreter's booth is turned off. Any advise on this?

It's hard to say, but in general you can only have one audio signal going into the Zoom meeting to avoid feedback. So make sure everything goes via the mixer.

I need an audio solution for a mid-size meeting, that takes place in a room that does not have a PA system. Our on-location participants are basically in two groups. There is both those that are around a table, or in semi-circle, where a conference mic would likely pick up most of their voices, but need another mic that can be used by those in the audience. A hand held mic that could be passed or put in a stand for that group, would seem best. Is it possible to have two mics in the room, when there is no PA system, and do I need a mixer for that setup to deal with bringing feeding the sound into the virtual meeting? Thx.

You could certainly connect to mics to a PC, and then use software like OBS Studio and a virtual audio cable to bring to mics into Zoom at the same time. But since they will be offset, this will likely sound terrible to the online audience. One solution would be to always switch off the mic that's not in use. Another would be to use very directional mics, so that one doesn't pick up the sound from the other's area.

Thanks. We have Wound up getting an audio interface and mixer and have two mic’s. One wireless, one corded

Thank you for this very helpful video! Would this still be possible even if the room is not wired in terms of microphones and speakers? Currently, we are using a Bluetooth mic and speaker set with Zoom but are also interested in Catchbox mics,

That's hard to say. But in general many different solutions are possible. I haven't tried the Catchbox setup myself, but I thought it does connect into a mixer.
