@mauricewalmsley7035 the people in this show consider "clutch factor" as a huge positive when they do sort of ranking. Going by that logic, the best team should be able to perform under pressure. This is worlds in LoL. Fully single elim playoffs means you have to find some way to win and survive. So yes, by their own logic and things they consider as good qualities, the best team should be able to win worlds.

JDG winning a domestic league that has failed to produce a single all-LPL worlds final and that hasnt won Worlds in 2 years is not impressive LPL is infinitely weaker than 2013-2017 Korea. It's not even remotely close. JDG isnt even SSB/ROX level. They just played in a weak era.

I liked the discussion in the Goat team video. I think the strengths of the contenders are well represented and you guys are giving fair arguments for all of them and the only exception for this is unfortunately JDG. I dont watch LPL so you can choose to discard my opinion, because like you said, there is only a select few people that can form an opinion, who watched all the regions. The problem with this worlds was, that the eye test for JDG is underwhelming and most analysts watching the games ignore obvious mistakes for whatever reason. If you want an example: In the JDG vs BLG match go to minute 20 and tell me what both the team and especially Ruler are thinking. Hextech soul is up in a minute and you decide to run into melee range as kalista alone into 4 people, which you know of, since knight just died to them. Plays like this are repeatedly ignored and it makes eye test untrustworthy.

You have to realize that JDG has lost 1 BO5 in the entire year (all splits, including MSI) and that BO5 booted them from worlds (Maybe 2 if there was one in the spring LPL, can't remember). And their BO3 record was mental too. They dominated domestically AND internationally - they were the biggest losers in the format of worlds. Take a couple hours one weekend and watch them dismantle pretty much every team they faced on 2x speed, it's a great watch :>

@@Dekharen The video was about the best team of all time. Pretty much all of the contenders have dominated the field to some extend, which is also why you are going to take the eye test to compare them. I dont see how this team performed comparable to Samsung White at worlds s4 or SKT in s5. Just going over accomplishments, they got no real advantage compared to SKT. The only thing they didnt win was a 2nd place at MSI. I think that Samsung is way more impressive tho. It took some time to get going, but they were unbeatable at worlds, which you cant say for JDG. If the Korean exodus doesnt happen there is a chance, that they repeat their s4 worlds performance and we dont have a debate about the best team of all time.

I for one think Markz is going to kill it, knowing him he's going to fight for expanded control within the position. As a product lead he needs to be able to control all aspects of the E-Sports production, marketing, and play/rule set to truly be able to brand it the way he wants. He's also pretty likely to out last the corporate gremlins above him who will jump careers for a 4% raise and can either promote or consume powers of the role

Having 2 currencies values of the same currency. Requiring an exchange. 60,60,24,x,12 19,19,19,19,19. (With 4 season special days). Regarding how having a two step verification can make 3 bitcoins be transacted with only one exchanged per interaction. Thus 2 neurology maps of financial reporting records records being in pockets, wallets, and different coin measurements. Obviously, using the Gregorian calendar with the 60,60,24 system would be public system and be as cheap as a penny with a network but the commissioner would be doing a two step verification and require an exchange rate being receipted. Okay? So Worlds is just whatever when considering GOAT teams? Quite a shocking opinion when most if not all pros at the highest/lowest level, view it as the ultimate achievement and put such importance and effort towards it and during it, i'd guarantee you going back from 2013 to the present, pick any team and a player from the event they'd agree in an instant 99% of the time. Some legitimately want just that and nothing else matters to them after, personally. Arguably or not, a lot of the best moments in esports history/of the entire game's lifespan come from Worlds. I'm not saying that failure invalidates JDG completely and what they have done up until the end but when it came down for them to actually prove what you guys are saying to the whole world, they didn't. When they needed to be, weren't the best on the eye test, clutch, not innovative and fundamentally, the trait you're defining them for, didn't work i suppose. Worlds performances should absolutely be a major factor in these conversations but not make it or brake it all, we can agree on that. I don't know if you guys are flip flopping on this topic all of a sudden, i would have to go back to years old videos, one by one on such discussions and compare the consistency. Either way, very strange...
@sadig6426
@sadig6426 9 ай бұрын
I don't think that they are trying to say worlds is "whatever." But you basically explained why they don't take worlds as the most serious hyper competitive tournament. Cause things like JGD can happen. Obviously in a perfect world it would be cool to have every team play against every other team 100 times and see who comes on top. You would think worlds would function to be a good approximation of that but because of it being a smaller sample size, outside game factors, and the shitty tournament design itself it doesn't even come close to representing that. For example NRG made it to the main stage and they definitely beat the odds and did great but they are not even in the same galaxy when it comes to comparing them with the other teams in the main stage. Unless you think NRG is a serious contender for being a top 8 team in the world? These are just examples but maybe they explain the spirit of why Monte and Thorin don't take worlds seriously as representation of the actual top tier skill in League.
@roachdoggjr4648
@roachdoggjr4648 9 ай бұрын
Worlds is viewed as the highest prestige tournament because you are competing against and besting other countries, which is a very strong sentiment for Asia especially. But realistically it is harder to win LCK or LPL than it is to win worlds. Also with how much more competition was provided at MSI this year, along with the better double elimination format, it means so much more for JDG to win that tournament than pretty much any other tournament in history as far as competing against the highest level of competition and having to go through a whole double elim.

@@sadig6426 JDG happened because they were a team that had real flaws but tried to mask it with talent alone. They weren't the most cohesive team. They didn't even have the largest champ pool. Also terrible take thinking JDG will take it in numerous attempts. JDG just looked awful at worlds. LNG and BLG series showed they have huge championship flaws and rely on Ruler to 1v9 in a lot of scenarios. Even the KT series should have went to a game 5 but ruler bailed them out. Can't be a great team when it's just one guy carrying the dead weight when JDG can't win an early game.

I think the hardest part about naming GOAT teams is that people tend to look at perspectives from an organization or decade perspective mostly due to the fact that most sports we watch have dynasty’s that last for similar periods. We forget that most of the teams in consideration didn’t stay as a team for very long and the fact that it is a 5 man roster means even replacing two or three guys makes it basically an entirely new team. When you think of dynasty’s in football like the Patriots, Steelers, 49ers, Cowboys, all those teams had a core group of players for 5-10 years. With league you’re lucky if a roster stays together for 1-2 years and it’s almost a safe bet that players will be cycled out of the team every/every other split. This allows teams like JDG to enter into the conversation bc the barrier for entry is a lot lower due to rosters changing so much
@potheadesens8725

It's really simple actually. If you don't win the biggest prize in the field, you can't be considered even as a reasonable candidate for a GOAT team. For example, I doubt more than 1 percent of NFL or NBA fans would consider the 2007 Patriots or the 73-9 Warriors as the GOAT teams.

The argument they've been making is that the worlds format has been vastly inferior to domestic formats and even strength of competition. May I remind you MSI this year has weighed a lot more than any of the prior tournaments. Also dominance and Eye test are always taken into account. Some wins are heavier than others and that is just a simple fact.

@@potheadesens8725 That is not due to the people not wanting to see repetition but rather the physical limitation of how much you can put the body under stress until it breaks. But also the finance necessary to hold double elimination for these respective sports. Also the highest stake's comment is complete bull how many shitty finals do we have to see till we get a format that produces the best competition? I've come from fighting games, specifically Tekken, and the stakes dont randomly decrease just because it is double elim.

Does anyone elses SI start with "right, we're back for viewer questions" now a days? Love you guys but can't stand league esports anymore since not enjoying the scene or the game in the slightest. Only took me 13 years.

You guys aren't showing up in my feed and there's not a lot of content creators I would ask this of but can you clickbait me and make more trashy thumbnails that break me free of the dopamine hell that is the youtube front page?

"This version of T1 is the greatest team of all time because they beat JDG, the supposed greatest super team of all time!" Oh, yeah that logic makes sense. So, tell me. Who was a better boxer? Mike Tyson or Buster Douglas?

JDG would be manny pacquaio. Good in his run but when faced against a better competition boom clap knocked out or decision hard.

@@theburden9920 Just an FYI boxing has numerous titles from different federation. The weight class jump are very minuscule in nature. flyweight, 112 pounds (51 kg) super flyweight, 115 pounds (52 kg) bantamweight, 118 pounds (53.5 kg) super bantamweight, 122 pounds (55 kg) featherweight, 126 pounds (57 kg) super featherweight, 130 pounds (59 kg) lightweight, 135 pounds (61 kg) super lightweight, 140 pounds (63.5 kg) welterweight, 147 pounds (67 kg) As well, considering boxing match making (arguably the worst of all sport competition) it doesn't mean much. Do you think it's normal for boxers to randomly go 20-0? It's because they pad fights to sell.
