Great new rod; custom rods are heirlooms meant to be handed down to your son and his son. If you want this to be possible, make sure when using no stretch braided line, your drag is set at a safe level. Because this rod may never be handed down if, you fail to do so. Braid has no stretch and if the drag setting on the reel exceeds the design of the rod, the rod will snap like a twig when snapping a hard hook set in a big fish or big log. Stripers and Salmon make lighting fast long runs and break rods all the time. Setting the hook into a stump or between two large rocks breaks rods even faster. This tip is from me to you.
