5.9k views and 4 comments, I guess 5 now. Very fascinating how I ended up here I saw a photo of a marlinspike on the internet and never heard of that before, I was intrigued so wanted to learn what it was or what it was used for. I loaded up this video because it looks professional although the 21 minutes made me reconsider. However my curiosity prevailed so I hit play. I made it 9 minutes in and have lost interest in my original curiosity but have now realized I do not know enough about knot making (since you are speaking about underhand and overhand) I paused because I thought, man I am not prepared for a marlinspike… I have to start elsewhere and build up my knowledge first to most likely appreciate the tool. The shear fact that this fantastic knowledge/demonstration only attracted 5.9k people baffles me. Rather yet, here I am consciously seeking out the information but have now become almost intimidated by how much I do not know. I fear this type of seamanship knowledge will be lost. I am happy the world has people like you who have the passion for this. I hope you get paid very well because you deserve it. Sincerely

I wouldn't have been able to refrain from using the marlinspike for a pointer instead of the pencil. Thanks for the informative vid.

Do you give marlinspike seamanship presentations in person? Our museum foundation is interested in exactly this kind of program for one of our summer events. If you do, I'd appreciate a way to contact you. Thanks. Ellen

When I started this clip I thought I will really learn about ropes and knots. Instead I got 20 minutes of monotone voice with over-explanations of not much interesting/important information and very little of demonstration. I still want to learn, but it won't be from this channel.
