The Sixties , in my opinion, will never be beaten, in terms of the quality of the music. And this song , is right up their with the best.

@@danielward67 Your information is a bit odd, to my knowledge Love Affair's first hit record, Everlasting Love, was released(December 1967) before this song(1968). I also heard that Marmalade actually passed on Everlasting Love, and as a result of that song being a hit, they were pressured to record this one. Which became their first major hit, and paved the way for more of them.

The production values are so very good on this song it does make me wonder how they could replicate it when performing live. A Fantastic song and production nonetheless, timeless.

I was lead guitarist with Christie (Yellow River etc in 1970). I gigged with Marmalade and Love Affair several times live in the 90's and was blown away by the live performances of these epic songs. So lucky to be part of that....
@pauldunn812 жыл бұрын
@@afos9233 Yes, Yellow River - a song I remember clearly from my childhood listening to my transistor radio. I have to say you were indeed lucky to be part of that wonderful period (in my view) of pop music. There was definitely something very different about the melodies at that time - different from the music a few years before and then different from a few years after. The writers somehow were reaching beyond what had gone before, along with full and lush orchestrated productions both created a unique sound which immediately identifies their period. I suppose as a member of Christie your sound was perhaps easier to replicate from the recorded version than Marmalade or Love Affair had on some of their recorded productions, as Yellow River sounds to be more paired down production wise, but nonethless memorable. Talent will always find an audience and the late 60's and early 70's music still has a huge audience today. I take my hat off to you!
