I'm 100% behind the sentiment of keep everyone together until the end of the season rather than bringing in someone new. If the opportunity arises to really improve the squad, sure, but I'd rather we have the same band of brothers who endured last season's heartbreaks -especially when you sense the possibilities this season.

Good analysis. As someone with Hungarian heritage I've had my eye on Kerkez for a long time, and I wouldn't complain about getting him at all. His physical attributes and technical ability alone mean he'll be hard to play against even if he's not performing super well, a bit like his compatriot Szobo, plus he knows the pace of the PL. Obviously Kerkez has huge upside, but I also love a player whose baseline is still pretty much guaranteed to be effective. I'm also a big fan of Ait-Nouri. I know the consensus right now is that he's much more of a wingback, but he's played LB in a back four and been effective on both sides. Even given Mo a tough time in defense on multiple occasions. I also like that he's stepped up for Wolves and showed character and leadership, shouldering an important load. We love guys who can do that at LFC. Either one would be exciting. Marmoush, on the other hand, talented as he is, has a bit of that "flavor of the moment" feel to him, and especially as a late-bloomer, taking a massive-money chance on him doesn't seem like something we need to do with our attacking options. Not saying he wouldn't be exciting and might not turn out to be a great player, but I don't see why we'd go in for him. A midfielder like Zubimendi still sounds attractive to me, as do the LB options (though I'd still back Robbo to fight for the starting place for a while). Even more depth at CB would be preferable to another attacker unless we have players leaving.

Indeed, the pros need to be weighed against the cons but at the same time at 23, he is at an age with good premier league experience under his belt and Slot would be able to work on him defensively from a fullback position but enable his attacking capabilities. Milos kerkez is very similar to Robertson/ Conor Bradley very high intensity up down player with great speed and balanced game . He is more solid and technical than Bradley but not as good crosser or set piece taker like robbo . 2nd season at pl 21 hell yeah kerkez should be a priority. Ait Nouri will be missed in Jan year after year with AFCON so that's one of the reason no to Nouri .

My only request regarding any reinforcements in January, is that FSG back Slot if HE requests a certain player or position. Zubimendi fills a function that we dont have but he has the game intelligence to adapt quick. Hello Si! Thanks for another great video with substance in abun-dance :-) I too would love our players to stay injury free but unfortunately that’s probably somewhat unrealistic, man… Having said that, it doesn’t make 100% sense to bring in another fwd/striker right now, unless we know someone is on their way out in the summer. For me there are a couple of players with question marks, predominantly over their fitness. As much as I love Jota the Slotter, and he does have a great song, he seems to miss a third of the season each season. I think there’s potential for upgrading on him in terms of availability. I have a similar concern with Chiesa. I’m not 100% convinced that he would have been Slot’s first choice of fwd to bring in. Obviously I agree we should not judge him until at least the end of the season, but I have to say early signs are not too encouraging. I heard what Slot said about his fitness, so I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt for now but at the same time we’ve had players with similar fitness issues in the past, and I don’t recall any of them doing well for us. So from a cold, “win at all costs” perspective, it makes sense to bring in Marmoush now, and evaluate who leaves in the summer, based on fitness and appearances. I can potential see a nightmare scenario whereby we play most of the season with just 4 fit fwds and then you have a problem playing them twice a week. Then what happens if one of them gets injured. We’ve improved the fitness of our midfield. I think we need to do the same with our fwds. It would be a shame if we missed out on big trophies because we’re one player short during a key part of the season. Sorry for the long and rambling message. Peace

I should add that I do also think we need another midfielder but it has to be the right profile and quality. If we can’t get Zubimendi (and I have serious doubts he will choose us over Real) then there aren’t any players of his calibre available. So then it probably makes more sense to develop from within or bring in a younger player and coach them to be that player.

Ultimately Slot and the team need to do a risk and reward assessment and figure out the bare minimum needed for a sustained title push and then hope he can get the parts he needs. Remember that there is a limit to how many you can register for the champions league and you dont want to cause disharmony to the players that got you into this position already so its a balancing act, but one I am confident Slot can get right. Zirkzee is another to look out for in the future if he moves on. He went to the wrong club but may show his potential with Amorim in charge. LB, dmf and cb is what is required. Zubamendi would push out endo (this will be his final season) and possibly Slobazlai.

Very good player but perhaps one that will be a project player who needs a proper pre season. I think we have enough attackers for the season so Liverpool will be interested, but not until next season unless Lyon sell for a ridiculously hard to refuse lowball fee.

German teams are not financially unstable so they can play the long game, unless the player pushes for it. Lyon are financially finished and cherki who has been followed for a long time will be available for peanuts and is at a good age. A replacement for jota or cheisa who is interesting Italian teams on a loan deal.

I think it will be hard to get Marmoush as you say unless someone stumps up the asking price, but many clubs will be after the Lyon assets due to their financial issues. I don't think any of the squad will be replaced though in a title pushing season because they know the system and you almost have no time from January to the end of the season to get a new player up to speed, so Jota and Chiesa will be essential in the title push.

FSG has not invested in the club squad depth even when Slot a new manager they choose came in. Only a 10m chiesa who is really a good player. That alone shows there's something going on behind the scenes with the club finance health in terms of how FSG see our club and what their true intention is which is not running the club in a healthy way competing for the title. I wont be surprise if the they have already sold the club behind the scenes (verbally) with our 3 top players contract running down at the same time. its almost a preplanned situation snowdiving into the eventful year next season where the whole club will be sold to a new owner who has no intention to invest big or has a different idea of how they want their football to be played. Slot was their choice and not FSG. Anyways, its just specualation but if the re-contracts are not done in jan, then above scenerio will be highly possible and logical.

I think Slot and the team made the right call to save the money until Slot identifies who actually needs replacing, by seeing them in real life game scenarios. Not wasting money is the other side of a super successfully run club and we are top of the league which shows FSG got it right with Slot. I actually think its the other away around for a sale. You maximise the value of the club valuable by tieing down your best assets. You devalue the club for any sale by losing your key players and money makers and lowering success factors so ultimately I am a big fan of what was done in the summer and what we are achieving now is proving it.

@@liverpooljapan i srongly disagree with what you are saying. the first part of your reasoning saving money and then later saying the devaluing of the club by not keeping your top playeras is contradictory. you dont keep a morton and 6 yrs of non productive elliot, 5 years of non effective jones as squad depth when you are competing with the likes of city, arsenal and chelsea. Even weekly salary disparity between top players and squad is crazy - 350k salah to jones 15k and elliot 55k....chelsea, city and arsenal squad players are far more well paid.....sometimes you talk in generalisation but when it comes to the value of the squad in money terms it doesnt add up. FSG is a plastic ownership. Nice shiny toy but made of cheap plastic. Just like Hot Toys plastic toys. after a few years the quality shows up and klopp has been the super glue that kept it togther.

Marmoush currently is quite far away from Nunez in terms of completeness to give the space to Salah and Diaz and he is more of a 2nd striker than main forward to lead the line. Team are currently dominating and winning with Nunez in the team, even if he isn't scoring himself but Salah is the main goal scorer in the team and it's set up for him to succeed
