4 years and 2 days ago, on Christmas eve night, my beloved grandmother passed away in a hospital bed. My grandpa called us about a week before explaining that she had been rushed to the hospital, and so we drove 8 hours to the hospital and stayed in the area. Me, my mom, dad, brother, uncle, and grandpa, all were staying at my grandpa's house and trying to make the best of it. We were laughing and joking and dancing to music, enjoying each other and celebrating Christmas eve when my grandpa got the call that she probably wouldn't make it through the night. My dad, grandpa, uncle and brother went to the hospital, while my mom and I stayed at the hotel, because I was just 12 years old. I heard the phone ring from the living room, and my heart sank because I knew who was calling and why. It was my dad calling to let us know she had passed. In her memory, I like to come back to this song and sing along because it reminds me of her, and of what we lost when she was gone. This is just a reminder to go hug your loved ones a little tighter, regardless of whether you get along great or not, because you never know when you're gonna lose those people or yourself. Please remember to be kind, to say I love you to those you love, and to be grateful for what you have. Because you never what will happen come daylight. Stay safe everyone and happy holidays.

I am 13 years old and when I was 7, I lost my mom to drugs. I lived with here while she was doing it. She kicked my dad and brother out and left me and then she tried to get help and I started living with my dad and brother. Apparently she took an overdose and passed away. This song, right here was me and my moms favorite song. Maroon 5 has been my idol and my mom taught me how to sing, this song was the first song I ever fully sang. Whenever I hear this song I have extreme sadness but that doesnt change me. I am trying to now focus on the future. I want to be an artist and my mom will always be the cause of it.
