@@williefaulker I’ve actually found a couple recent interviews with him and he published a book about his story with maroon 5 called harder to breathe. Apparently he suffered from a condition called musician’s dystonia, which is a task specific muscle disorder that causes uncontrollable muscle spasms in certain areas of the body related to that task. He was also suffering from wrist and shoulder injuries due to not playing with proper for technique on such a long tour. When they brought in Matt Flynn to replace him, they still kept him in the studio as a “musical director.” But, by that point, he had sunk so far deep into alcoholism that he just became a shell of a person in the studio for a while, so he eventually had to leave the band. Years later he got sober and went on to become a therapist that works with recovering addicts. I’ve not read the book yet, but in the interview I saw he seemed like he had been doing well for himself.
