Wilkes was so low key. Just making that jumper in the corner. Not fancy. At the end of game 18 to 20 points, 6 to 8 rebounds. Fine player.

Silky scored 37 in Game 6 of the 1980 Finals.

Marques used to battle and sometimes win, in the playoffs, vs Larry Legend and Doc, Marques Johnson was one smooth as fuck player and the Bucks were LOADED in the 80s, they SWEPT Larry Legend in 83, that is how good the Bucks were, my 76ers had to get thru them every year, great team and Marques Johnson was one hell of a complete, stylish player, completely overlooked.

@@fml5910 the Bucks don't beat the Showtime Lakers though if they get through the east

@@fml5910 the 1980s Lakers beat Boston and Philly a combined four out of six finals series I think. The Bucks were nice but they don't overcome Showtime

Marques Johnson had he not had a drug problem and injuries would have been one the best small forward of all time no doubt about it.

Remember having my picture taken with Marques at the Pocono Invitational Basketball Camp in 1978.

Marques Johnson was more athletic than Jamaal but Jamaal was a damn good player and was a good athlete with supreme skills. Johnson was skilled too but Wilkes' play was siiiilky smooooth.

People forget Silk had 37 points when Magic had that classic performance in Game 6 of the '80 Finals.

@@MrBronx61 They gave the finals MVP to Magic but Silk was right there and that 37 points was big time.

@@jingqi9106 Actually, Kareem should have received the Finals MVP. To me, he was the best player in that series, but he got hurt and Magic closed the deal with a HOF performance.

@@MrBronx61 I'm not saying Wilkes should have won the finals MVP, I'm just saying he was money.

@@jingqi9106 No no, I was saying Kareem should have won MVP. Wilkes was always money. Remember he was on that Golden State team that shocked Washington in '75.

Did not realize that they were on the same team and that he was his mentor. I see why he was so smooth. Jamaal Wilkes was sooooooo smooth. I mean he made shooting look so easy.

Michael Jordan had a Marques Johnson poster up in his room. True. I did too.

I loved watching those Milwaukee teams from the early 80s. They were solid....unfortunately they played in the same conference with Bird's Celtics and Doc's Sixers.

But Marques did give the Doc and Bird problems on the court.

Man thats so crazy that I have followed Basketball for all these years and never knew about the impact of Marcus Johnson. Whats even CRAZIER is that his son Chris was MY FAVORITE PLAYER IN COLLEGE!!!

Marques blocked Kareem's shot?!?!? Chick Hearn (RIP) with the play-by-play and a younger Pat Riley with the commentary/analysis. Great archival video!
