What is a slide? A slide is a ghost screen like pick-and-pop. Where the screener slides out of the screen to get some separation. The purpose is to create defensive confusion that may lead to a penetration opportunity or pick and pop shot. It behaves like a ball screen and fits well into a dribble drive motion offense as well.
As you can see Marquette will even use slides guard on guard.

We do similar action as well. We call it "Ghost Screens"

yeah I included that verbiage in there as some call it that. Lots of times in Ghost Screens it is big-on-little, but Marquette will use slides guard on guard. I happened to have the practice footage of Shaka teaching it at VCU with the "slide" verbiage, so that's what I used.

@@RadiusAthletics Ghosts are typically a shooter, usually a guard, it's a slip into a Pop. You can roll or slip, or pop or ghost. That's how i explain it to my athletes at least
