Interesting conversation. I remember Dr Alduan Tartt was my TA in undergrad at Michigan. While their choices seem odd to me, he and his wife have the right to shape their marriage in a way they deem fit for them. I do however hope their son is prepared for hearing interviews such as these 13 years from now; it could be very hurtful to him.

Thank you Christina for your message. We are always authentic whenever we are asked to speak. To that point some would think that this is an odd conversation, however it is typical amongst married couples. Most married couples disagree on expanding their household and its actually within the top 3 reasons why couples argue. Our baby boy is beyond loved and we have an amazing village. It won't be hurtful to him because it wasn't about him, it was about expanding our family.

@@meccatartt9534 Absolutely. I shared this podcast with friends and learned exactly what you stated; its not as uncommon as it may seem. Thank you for iterating that your son is beyond loved when we both know you didn't have to explain your circumstances. Continue to be blessed and fulfilled in your life and not based on the beliefs of others.

@@DRTARTT1 I appreciate you was honest and upfront. It makes ppl uncomfortable but you were honest and set your expectations. It may make ppl uncomfortable but it better not to lie. You were pushed to compromise on what you were honest and clear about what you didn’t want so I agree that you both came to a honest agreement about who’s doing the grunt work and who is the parent showing up for playtime only. It saved your marriage. I think some women prefer you lie and become resentful later instead of being honest as you were. I salute y’all decision bc it’s works for your personal marriage and is was transparent and upfront. More ppl should be honest and more marriages would last. No one seems bothered that she was putting fertility hens in your drink prior to telling you. That’s deceitful. Egypt started paperwork without Mike knowledge to be forced to possibly be a child’s dad. This definitely would cause riffs. We can’t be judging only the men be honest but not address the women being sneaky. Thats hypocrisy. But anyways Congratulations to you both.

That's their marriage and maybe if more couples did this there wouldn't be so much arguing and fighting about who takes on what roles. What I got from it is that he was honest about his feelings from the very start which a lot of people don't know how to do so I'm happy for them 😊❤

I somewhat agree. But she and her husband agreed on this prior. Which is their marriage plan. She strongly wanted a baby but he didn't. But as a husband, he could help his partner more with baby 🤔.

I appreciate the honesty regarding the last child. I am mindful that this is Not My relationship. So I don't have a dog in the fight. Separately, I am always confused by the "work" of marriage. My marriage is either easy, Or, I am not stressed by the things that impact others.... I'm NOT bragging. I am just genuinely curious as to what other people work at. I just believe in being faithful, honest, kind, unselfish and loving

@@MahoganyGlaze I appreciate that. So, what about just being considerate to the person you love/care for? What I mean is, I think that I learned that "loving/caring for" someone includes by default considering their needs and wants. Not that I am perfect and always do Exactly what my husband wants, but it's a part of my expectations of a Loving relationship. Is this not common; Love = care

There was not deceitfulness. He told her he didn’t want a baby and then he was forced into another and was honest about his expectations and duties and she agreed to it in advance. How come no one is bothered or questioning that she was putting fertility herbs in his drink without his knowledge initially to trap him into another baby, that’s deceitful. I’m glad she was honest later however that doesn’t change the entrapment. He was very clear and direct he did not want another child. Would we rather him lie and be resentful on both parties end bc the additional baby was built on a lie of roles and expectations. This doesn’t mean this man is not a good present father. He just said he is not willing to do the grunt work and she agreed. This doesn’t mean he is not good at counseling or his faith. If anything this shows he teaches ppl to be honest and express their deal breakers. It obviously works perfectly for them so they are doing something right no matter how uncomfortable it makes other ppl. He also said he jokes a lot and the Hawks game is him being sarcastic but also honest.

Hi love I appreciate your comment and your view point. He was not forced, we both compromised for each others dreams. Most married couples, over 50% do not agree about expanding their family. I am happy we were able to share our conversation to show that this is a normal conversation amongst married couples. Also in regards to the Maca powder he was aware it was simply a joke. My husband is focused on being a centenarian so we have it in the house amongst other vitality herbs. God does not bless deceitfulness. The truth is it took a lot for our baby boy to come into our life. For 5 years I wanted another baby and it wasn't until God and Alduan said yes that I got pregnant. For 3 months we tracked my ovulation, took herbs, worked out, prayed over by my Wives Prayer Warriors, used the ovulation sticks...and this was after several months of just seeing if it would happen. There were lots of tears during the waiting period, but God said yes and I am so thankful for that. Baby boy is beyond loved.

You know what…I get these comments because we definitely had very real conversations about parenting roles. There is a difference between being discussing parenting roles and being absent. The proof is in the pudding though. You certainly need to see how it is going because this is a great conversation and worthy of your tough words. You might see so many absent dads that you miss one who is transparent about balance being needed to have a happy home. I’m enjoying parenting three because we have good balance as a result. Parenting should be enjoyable and many couples don’t have the friendship, communication skills to have deep conversation and then adapt to meet mutual dreams. I’m not mad. You could have been harsher. It’s all love.

@@SleevedStephieSlaysCome on Fam…you see the balance. We do have three kids Stephie. This is just a behind the scenes view on balancing it all (self-care, career, parenting, marriage). I was joking about not being at tumbling lessons vs. The Hawks-kinda. I’ll probably do 50/50.😂 However, I see your point of view because I do joke a lot.

He is an amazing and present Father. The truth is Alduan has been the father to hundreds of boys that have come into his practice over the past 20years, that do not have a present father to guide them. So to think that he would be anything less than an amazing father to his first son is crazy. We wanted to share a very real conversation that most married couples don't discuss openly, but it's one of the top 3 reasons why married couples argument. We are a real couple not a picture perfect couple on social media. We hope and pray that our transparency will help other married couples as they navigate through marriage. Baby boy is beyond loved.

Y’all are so weird!!! I wouldn’t be offended if my mother told me she didn’t initially want me. What matters is how the child feels when they are with their parents!!! As long as the child feels loved by their father. I doubt he would care about his dad having to compromise on additional children….
