I was so knocked out by his performance in 'The Underclassman' that I had to see more. This rendition is just lovely; he doesn't let you down. He's the real deal.

Marrick Smith is a brilliant talent. I first saw him in "Revolution in the Elbow of Ragnar Agnarsson Furniture Painter" an Icelandic rock musical at the Minetta Lane Theater this past summer with Cady Huffman and Kate Shindle. He had the lead and raised the bar for the seasoned Broadway professionals. I reluctantly went the first time and was blown away and wound up seeing it 4 times, primarily to see this guy perform. Mark my words, by this time next year he may very well be a household name, he's that good. He is currently working on a new show with a theater group called The Civilians called "Pretty Filthy". It's an investigative musical about the porn industry and the composer is the same guy who wrote "Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson." It begins previews January 31st at Abrons Art Center in NYC. I saw a concert version of some of it at 54 Below last month and I can tell you that if you are a Marrick Smith fan, you don't want to miss it. He has a solo in the show that I fully believe is going to make him the next "overnight sensation" in New York, which is so ironic because this guy's been working on his craft and working professionally since he was just a kid. Yes, Marrick Smith is very much the "real deal." (By the way, he just completed filming his first feature film, "The Lennon Report.")
