I never understood why priests and nuns couldn't marry..when in the bible it said that god made adam and then he made eve .cause he seen that adam was lonely. He also said to be fruitful

Such child abuses happen not because celibacy is wrong but because of the lost of identity and personal conviction by the priest. celibacy is practice not only in Catholic Church but also other religion as well eg Buddhist, we have quite number of shadu gurus who are also unmarried they have no problem at all, I think problem is not Celibacy but a Priest himself. I have also seen many Priest who is like a father taking care of the people as much as he can, no married person can help like this, therefore celibacy is more fitting, moreover it is personal choice,

Dingchang Jachang With all due respect, God made us to procreate. He made us male and female the scriptures say. By virtue of the church’s authority, they changed the rules less than a thousand years ago. They themselves admit there is no scriptural authority for the change. The church issued the decree for celibacy when the church fell under economic problems and it was costly to support a family. Some A man’s decision became an evil doctrine-man made laws. Thus, how is it possible for God to bless this error? One can easily see how the priesthood became more attractive to those who had sexual issues already. Sadly, it became less of a calling to normal men who desired a God-ordained lifestyle. Too bad to see this man-made law corrupt the church.

There is optional celibacy. These guys can be deacons. They have a different role in the Church, but they can still preach and read the Gospel, and GET MARRIED! The claims in this video are quite frankly false. Do straight people who go into the priesthood abuse kids? No. The problem was the ordination of people with unhealthy sexual motives, having nothing to do with being celibate.

Be careful not to idolize religious life. No one knows beyond a certainty that they will succeed at each effort in life. Religious life allows for YEARS of considered living before a final commitment is even offered. Success is not always in hacking it, but in the effort to live a faithful life of love in Christ. Many of us who enter religious life discover it is NOT meant for us, not always before the final commitment. I hesitate to judge the efforts & intentions of others.

Read 1 Timothy 3 where Paul preaches that priests should be married. Also in 1 Timothy 2 :5 " for there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Jesus Christ" . The confessional is not Biblical.

Dangerous? Dear heart - in this world we live in, getting up in the morning can be dangerous! The Church is made up of human beings and sinners just like everywhere else. No one is perfect and each one of us are capable of being right or wrong. The point of a life in faith is to keep striving for the good, especially in the face of what is not. Who is unstable can be subjective. Religious are more than staff, but keeping anyone in religious life at any cost can be a very wrong choice.

There has to be a change in thinking within the church. There are thousands of men who would make fantastic priests, but are not allowed to because they are married. The decline in numbers of priests should make Rome wake up to reality and revisit this issue. Most other major religions in the world allow married priests, so why shouldn't the Catholic church?

I am a Roman Catholic and I am happily married.Lets say I was an C.of E. Priest and I was married with children.Lets say I became a Roman Catholic Priest.Am I correct in saying that I would have take up the Vow of Celibacy to become a Roman Catholic Priest.ie I cannot have a Sexual Relationship with my wife to have more children. If that is the case the Roman Catholic Church is wrong.I am married to my Wife which is both a Sacrement in the Catholic and the C.of E.Church. If the Catholic Church accepts Priests from the C.of E.Church they should only accept Priests who are not married.(Marriage is a Sacrement and if I am correct you are joined in Marriage until death). Some of the Apostles were married. Therefore I cannot see any Logical Reason why a Catholic Priest cannot get married.(It is all down to the rules the Catholic Church has implemented over the last two thousand years).I am sorry to say the Roman Catholic Church is wrong. When I left University I was thinking of becoming a Catholic Priest,but it was not to be.I sure I would now be a Cardinal in the Catholic Church if I did become a priest.You never know I could have been the next Pope. If I was the next Pope,believe me I would call a Vatican Council(3) and there would be many changes. I am sure Our Lord Jesus would agree with me.(If I am correct the Pope is Infallible in everything he does). PLEASE ELECT ME POPE at the next Conclave. God chose a married priest to circumcise His Son. If marriage is good enough for God, then there is a reason for it. Celibacy is a sacrifice of choice between an individual and God, not to make a common bond between a brotherhood. We are called to like mindedness in Christ''s love, which is a spiritual love , not a physical.
