It doesn't make sense because it's a lie. Mariah lied to Lake about Quad sleeping with her husband. Lake automatically believed Mariah and assaulted Quad only to find out the ish wasn't true. Then to cover her lying ass, Mariah pretended to have heard that bull ish rumor from "somewhere" which caused her to misinterpret whatever interaction she had supposedly seen between Quad and Lake's husband.
