Sir , Why do i find multiple abdominal lymph nodes on usg reports more commonly in pediatric age group.. is it due to small abdomen size for usg to penetrate ,in the children ?

Indeed such nodes are very commonly seen and they are not always abnormal. Oval / elongated nodes < 5 mm in short axis dimension - are frequently normal and are commonly seen. Only if the nodes are large / hypoechoic / > 10 mm in short axis dimension / tender / with surrounding mesenteric inflammation are they abnormal and could suggest mesenteric lymphadenitis. Why are nodes seen ? Well could be due to abundance of lymphatic tissue in the pediatric age group especially GI related lymph tissue probably

Yes but CT would amount to a lot of radiation plus you would need to sedate the child

Rajatdeep - its always Risk Vs benifit consideration...For a child the Risk from such high radiation exposure is really too high as compared to the benifit of doin a CT. Besides given the small size of the pediatric abdomen - with gradual probe pressure the air within the bowel loops can be displaced and a acoustic window can be created...not always but most of the times !
