It wasnt a blowout, but it wasnt close either. Trump handily won - thats the issue for democrats and the charge leveled against Harris. There isnt actually a "popular vote". Its not actually a thing. Each state is worth precisely as much toward electing potus as it has legislative representation.

It couldn't have been much closer in terms of vote share. Trump had less than 2% more votes than Harris, and got less than 50% of the vote. So more people voted against him than for him. The system is skewed very much in Republicans favor. Particularly in the Senate, as each state has 2 senators, regardless of population. The whole thing is ludicrous 🤷‍♂️

Nothing is skewed. America has 50 state elections, the value of each state is determined as the OP said. The US does not have a single nationwide vote. The popular vote occurs in each state to determine where its electoral votes go

@@rickm6076 I know how it works. That's why I'm telling you that the system is skewed in favour of Republicans. It might not be how it was intended, but that's how it plays out. In terms of how the proportion of votes is reflected in legislative representation, Montane gets as many Senators as California despite the massive population difference. And Republicans frequently win the Presidential race with millions fewer votes than the Democratic candidate. Not to mention voter suppression tactics employed by Republicans. I could go on..
