Makes a change for a band to be interested and interesting when interviewed. Well done to Marseille and yourself, James. They’re cool lads and I like their style and their sound. Hopefully they go on to big things.

I saw Marseille supporting the bluetones at the kanteena and I’ve seen loads of support acts and these were the best I’ve ever seen.

Seen these lads play at the Garage in Glasgow, the wee tiny attic space, what a gig! If you get a chance go see them, they are destined for big things!

Thanks for the heads up James. Will check these lot out. I like their ambition. Like they said, no reason they shouldn't be massive.

Sounds very much like early Verve - stating the obvious.

They do have some good tunes but thing is we've heard it all before. If you're gonna be the next big thing you have to offer something new, unique, and exciting on top of what's already there, especially if you're gonna be so derivative of a band like the stone roses, for example. I mean even some of their ep artwork is just a rip off of the stone roses. just my opinion
@charm.uk.6 ай бұрын
Like you just said, we've heard it all before, therefore all we can do as musicians is make music that's true to us, it's always gonna sound like someone else, fact. The Beatles are often heralded as the most influential band of all time, yet they were influenced by plenty, i.e. the likes of Buddy Holly, Little Richard and Elvis. You can be as unique a band as anyone, but you have to be inspired by someone to be doing what you're doing! 😂.

Oasis sounded derivative and past it when they came out. SuperSonic sounded like shit baggy. I’m 50, I was there. Give these guys a chance.

Love the lads tbh At first I thought fuck stone roses wannabe then I realized that’s what the world and the music industry needs. Were trying to do the same, we love the beatles and Oasis and there’s nothing wrong with it, if u wanna sound like a band that showed up 40 years ago go ed lad, what would u prefer? the same shite band that sounds like one direction with distortion? Long live Marseille 👊

Just listened to 'She can fly' and 'monkey in the middle'. Two cracking tunes which lead me to giving some good and bad news to the band. The good is I think as long as they get enough publicity they're going to develop a big following. The bad is most of the following is going to be a bunch of 40+ year olds! They really could have been plucked straight form the 90's and I for one am all for it!

I'm confused, I typed "Marseille band" into Google and they show me the Wikipedia excerpt, quote: "Marseille is an English rock and new wave of British heavy metal band from Liverpool, formed in 1976, disbanded in 1984 [...]".
@memphissoulstew5 ай бұрын
Yes, Marseille were quite a well known band, I saw them support Dire Straits circa 79/80. Lead by Neil Buchanon the Art Attack TV show chap. They actually reformed around ten years ago with my mate Nige on vocals and did release a comeback album. Surely someone has pointed this out to them!

Well done lads. Keep bashing away and do as many gigs as you possibly can. Playing in a band (especially when you are young) is a great laugh. Plenty of madness and mayhem to come 😂

"She Can Fly" is a mega tune. Spirit of the Roses and Verve without ripping them off. They need better production -- they'll earn it.

well it’s because of people like you that guitar bands are disappearing and aren’t dominating anything. I’ve seen the lads live and they are boss if they are not big enough is not because they are sh1te, it’s because the music industry is f ep rn, only the killers wanna be and taylor swifts

Seem like really nice lads but in all honesty, their tunes are pleasant but dull and just don't have the 'x factor' or quality of the bands they're very clearly hero-worshipping. Further still there's none of the ATTITUDE needed to give Rock n Roll a much needed kick up the fuckin' arse. If we want R'nR to dominate again, we need people equal to - or FURTHER - your Oasis', Roses, Nirvanas etc. Otherwise it's just pastiche.

Their recordings are awful. The guitars are lost in the mix and the vocals are flat to the point of distraction.
