He would spend time with his childhood friend who he had an arranged engagement with but she couldn't spend time with her best friend. He claimed to love her but never trusted her that's why Fenqqi knew which buttons to push. He kept her father's illness from her and allowed her to find out from someone else and then everyone is saying why does she take everyone's word over her husband, well her husband keeps lying to her!
