Thank you so much for taking the time to share this! I like the sound of the removed and the 220PF on the lower gain settings. I'm inspired to try it this evening.

Some people like a 120 pF.

Great content. I've been thinking about doing this kind of stuff or making custom amp cabinets that are artsy or different. Do you use an ocilliscipe or any kind of wave monitoring while you expirament? I figured it's more by ear than a wave shape

Thanks! ☺️ I don’t use a osciloscope, I don't know what it is 🤣

Finally a great comparison! Except it is written MF on the capacitor values. I guess it's pF not MF.

Thanks for this! This amp is so cool, simple cap change to customize your sound. That G12t75 is an awesome speaker too!

SMSuperstrat yes I agree!!!

@@zaloraltest what I'm wondering is if I can use a rotary varitone switch with all the values you tested and wire it to the position on the board. It would be handy cause at different volumes it reacts differently. You might want it brighter at lower volume and higher preamp gain, but less opened up with less preamp.

SMSuperstrat It’s a wonderful idea. I made a similar thing, not with a so many option but with two modes: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zl6XcnyqbNadqqc

@@30smsuperstrat I agree the amount of desired treble in the distortion changes with the amp's volume, but I feel the opposite in that as the amp's turned up the power tubes saturate and more treble turns into spongy saturated goodness. At low volume the huge treble spike makes my guitar pick feel like it's gripping against the strings and it hurts to play.

I like the 470pF (471) & no bright cap best. I'd put the 470pF on a switch and go between those two.

I listen the comparison with headphone,, but i don't hear kk important differences between those,, except for no cap. Maybe youtube compresses it? Or is it supposed Tobe not much diff anyway?

There are the deep differences between two capacitors. The rest is very similar.

The cap gets dialed out with higher settings, and that is true for all values, because it sits across the pot.

I replaced my 470pf with a 150pf on c19. Great improvement. Took half an hour and cost 80 cents

Yeah! It’s a little thing for the pocket but big for the sound!

Hey nice video! Could help me with conversion to farads off all 5 types of cap? Higher the value of the cap, higher the brightness filter? (Greetings from 🇨🇱)
@zaloraltest4 жыл бұрын
Javier Vicuña I'm sorry, buddy, but I'm not an electronics expert. I believe that there are specific sites for converting values.

Very good demonstration and recording. Though you should probably learn the difference between a Picofarad "pf" and Microfarad "uf" if you're going digging around in a high-voltage amplifier. These will either be in Picofarad which is 470pf stock value or 4.7uf Microfarad. You're okay here as this application is using non-polarized capacitors. Using anything from 0 to 2000pf/2mf, anything else out of spec or wrong polarization from a polarized cap may cause damage to either the amplifier or at the very least...your ears

What is MF ? Mega Farad? I do know uf Micro Farad...😨

I really don’t know. I have write what I’ve seen on the cap.

For starters: Why the "u?" It actually is "mew" or the 12th letter of the Greek alphabet. Your keyboard used to type that comment likely doesn't even have that character so we lazy Americans/Imperials just type it as "uf." "mf" actually stands for "millifarad" which doesn't exist in guitar application or electric amplifiers in general. "mFd" is actually Microfarad. It's probably from the HVAC guys who work with starter capacitors for a living and occasionally comment and bumble things up even further. Blame the engineers who were coming up with these new capacitors so frantically in 18-something that they didn't have time to stop to revise the nomenclature system to make it universally understandable to the masses. Anyways... For bright caps, this really should be measured in Picofarad, which is smaller than Microfarad. These capacitors will also be non-polarized. Stock value is 470pf or 4.7uf Goes from Picofarad to Microfarad in guitar/amplifier application. Just move the decimal, really.

You've been given tone control on your guitar - use it!
