A great preview of what's to come in this walking tour. And while the building will always (legally) be the "Marshall Field and Company Building," please, the retail operation inside right now is not Marshall Field's but Macy's. Two different ways of doing business. Marshall Fields was not Macy's with green shopping bags in a script logo, it was a distinctly different experience that blended the best of Bloomingdale's, Macy's, Lord and Taylor, and cultural institutions like the Art Institute of Chicago, and many more. People who are new to Chicago think it's just a name change, but it was much more than that. It was a change in ethos. Don't call the building Macy's, but please don't ever call the current retail operation inside Marshall Field's. Good luck with your tour. I'm sure a lot of people will enjoy it.

fieldfanschicago Hopefully if an in-person walking tour ever comes to be, we will have more time to discuss the store’s full history. Thanks for watching!

The guy I’m dating was the model who played “Prince Charming” for the Marshall Fields ad campaign from the 80s. Any chance you’ve found footage of those ads, Kelly?

Hi, Molly! I have found a newspaper ad from 1982 featuring Cinderella, Prince Charming, and Marshall Field's. I cannot upload it here, but if you email me at info@chicagomovietours.com, I'll be happy to send it to you-so you can see if it's the right model! :-)

There was a movie with "Marshall Field's" in the movie title. In the movie there was a girl wanted to work at Marshall fields... It was an independent movie. Does anyone know the name of the movie? I searched online but nothing came up.

I am not familiar with a movie like the one you’re describing, and IMDB doesn’t turn up anything similar either. That would be fun to find though. Keep us in the loop if you do come across it! Thanks!

@@chimovietours, My memory is fuzzy. it was over 20 years ago but I think the movie was The Hi-Line 1999. A lady in Montana wanted to move to Chicago to work at Marshal Fields. it was so long ago when i saw it. I could have mixed it up with another store.

Enjoyed the preview. What an interesting presentation. It brought back so many wonderful memories of shopping at Field's. Hope I can be among the first group to sign up for a tour when these Covid-19 times are over.

My father worked in the SEARS TOWER for 16 years until 1989. It's a shame that Marshall Field's was bought out by Ma---- in 2005. Great stuff again.
