I grew up with the early versions of Marshall’s and to be honest, they’re the standard by which all great amps are measured!!! They simply kick ass!!! I also went thru a phase where I Had To try everything else-and I’m glad I did-in fact, I still enjoy plugging into different amps. BUT the minute I plug back into a Marshall, my ears can hearing it, my playing tightens up, then once I get that inevitable kick in chest, I feel like I’m home!! The JCM800 is the perfect distortion amp for me. Anything from punk to metal, it just works. The Greenbacks are a nice speaker to pair it with, but as you noticed the lack of low end, some folks like the G12-65's which bring back some of that low end, or the G12M-65's (Creambacks) for some more low end than a Greenback but with a little more high end than the G12-65's.

On the deadweld audio duality pedal, when it comes to the blue side, you need to not push the volume past 12:30 MAX. If you push it past that, it overloads the circuit and causes it to fart and fall apart. Only reason I'm bringing it up is because I absolutely love that pedal, and the blue side is incredible for shaping metal amps, so I don't want anyone to hear it and go "thats awful why would anyone use that." Honestly it is an incredible boost, and deserves your attention :) and the built in noise gate is killer!!!

The JCM has classic tone and "cutting" as you can hear. The drawback is that there isn't enough bottom and tightness for it. Like Ola commented near the end...an EQ or something in the loop to boost the bottom, but reall, the only thing the JCM800 needs (besides tweaking to taste), is add a depth/punch resonance knob and it's all set!
@justinainsworth6264 Жыл бұрын
The bottom from Marshalls come in at volume as they are voiced to be stadium amps. A 4x12 with a Marshall on 10 will have way more natural low end resonance from sheer volume than people realize even with the bass on 0. Not to mention once the bass guitar is added any extra low end will be lost in a mix. That's why you always hear Marshalls sound best cranked. They are designed that way. Depth/punch knobs simulate what volume does naturally which is a useful feature today, but wasn't something those bands needed back then as they played them near 10.
