I used the exact opposite in my rig for many years. Mesa Dual Rectifier (3 channel) through my Marshall 4x12 (1960 cabinet)

Yes.. He writes all the music and lyrics. He recorded the first Theocracy album by himself.. Mirror of Souls he recorded the guitars, bass and shawn did the drums. He still writes everything else. the solo's the Val records now..

I don't know what it is but Marshalls simply record better and set in a band context better than any other amp.
