Thanks for sharing your views Martin. There is a big difference between those two amps. I think you made the right choice.

Martin, you might be in PRESET mode... which happens to be the amp's default mode. When you switch channels in PRESET mode, the gain, eq, reverb, volume, and effect settings all revert back to the last saved configuration on that particular channel. AND when you turn any knob (minus the MASTER) the CHANNEL button will have a funny blink prompting you to save the new configuration. If you want to save that configuration press the STORE button. Now, every time you go back to that channel, your amp will revert to those settings no matter how the knobs are set. Try running it in MANUAL mode, press and hold the TAP button for a couple of seconds until the STORE button lights steady. Now when you switch channels, the gain, eq, reverb, volume, and effects are set to the knobs... bypassing the internal memory. To go back to PRESET mode, press and hold the TAP button until the STORE button is extinguished.

I think the clean and crunch channels are great on the MG30fx through my us Fender Telecaster. I agree the OD1 and 2 could be better but you get great Marshall tones still.

I've spoken to a couple of other people, and they agree with you. The amp is just not giving me what I'm looking for, so maybe it's me at fault? I was giving a review from my point of view, and compared to the Katana, it's not up to it for me. I'm sure that a much better guitarist could get a better sound, but unfortunately, that's not me?

I have this amp same as you i got this one before the Boss Katana 50 Im agree the Boss Katana is better but this Marshall un clean with Boss pedals and a good setting for me is good not as other of high quality of course but i believe every one has his own opinion.

You're right, everyone has their own opinion, and it just didn't work for me? There maybe many reasons why it didn't work, but I just like to plug in and play, and for me, it just didn't work?

I didn't think it sounded that bad. Just a little "boxy" as you mentioned. Maybe it will sound better with .010 Ernie Ball Regular Slinkys?

I'm one of those people who likes to just plug in and play, and for me, it wasn't working? I'm not saying that it wouldn't work for someone else, as there are a lot of good guitarists out there who know what they're doing? I just like a simple go to amp?

It's very flat sounding I was looking into this before I got my katana but I didn't end up getting it the katana is way better
