I bought mine about the same time. Highly disappointed In it at first. I found it took time to get the mojo out of it, now I love it. Just got the dsl 40 a few weeks ago. Love both. Love my Marshalls. Also love my boss katana

These MG amps have been a disappointment since Marshall released the original version back in the early 2000s. I wish they would re-issue some version of the Valvestate series from the 1990s as their budget amp line instead.

The old MG30FX sounds better imo. The midrange is better, the reverb sounds better, & all the FX sound better except the Flanger both sound terrible. The MG30FX Gold EQ is shelved pretty different on the mids. The Gold is about 3db louder as well & is better suited on the clean for The Rolling Stones, Byran Adams whereas the older one sounds more Zeppelin & AC/DC imo. I tried matching the EQ's but Marshall used a different frequency in the mids. Clean, Crunch, & OD1 are very usable on both but OD2 is unusable for me. This blows the Line 6 IV & Fender Champ 20 & 40 out of the water. It's also worth noting the Gain you might as well dime on the old & Gold along with the Volume & control the loudness with the Master. Regulating the Gain does not clean up anything it only makes the amps quieter. I recommend using your guitar volume to clean up your tone.

Sir I have this same amp but in clean channel volume is so low even I keep the kno on 10 but the od1,2 are totally fine is it defect or good?

Run a behringer ultra medal pedal. Gives you a killer rock tone and if turn down the distortion it boosts ur clean channel as loud as the other channels

Bought one in 2022, wish I hadn’t. The onboard effects are simply awful. My Fender Champion 40 sounds better, although that amp lacks midrange. I would return the Marshall if there wasn’t a shipping charge. For the same money, please consider the Katana 50W MK II. It is the best solid state amp out there, with amazing, concise effects. The Marshall is almost a throwaway in comparison. I own the Katana 100W MK II, so I know what I am talking about. The only way this amp can sound good, is to carry it around with an Ibanez Tube Screamer with a fresh battery. The Katana in comparison has the best OD, crunch, lead et al, on the planet. Save your money, stay away from the Marshall.

@@DilanJanssen I own this exact Marshall and a Katana MK11 and the Katana blows the Marshall out the water!!! The Katana just has more to it and sounds better without having to adjust the EQ or anything. The Katana also has really good cleans and I'd recommend the Artist MK11 if you can afford it and they are on sale for $499 right now but you can get the 50w MK11 for roughly the same price as this Marshall and it is an amazing amp and loud too!

They're pieces of shit, I had one for a few months and no, I'm not a beginner I'm a shred and sweep player that in fact, has a formal college education in electrical/electronics engineering. These channels that promote gear basically never tell you if something is a POS because they're comp'd for promoting the gear. *From the power button to the internal SMD digital electronics, this is a crummy amp even for a beginner.* Mine sounded like shit no matter what gear I equipped it with including an expensive digital floor model with a 12AX7 in it, then one day, it up and died! *It took a lot of pressure, but I got MF to accept the return.* I was and am still disgusted the Jim Marshall name is on this thing. It's literally what you would expect to buy for a hundred bucks off Temu, and then that would explain why it's such a POS lol.
