Sam takes a look at the latest reincarnation of the popular Marshall MG series, the GFX, which reverts back to their iconic black and gold styling...
Check out the Marshall MG50GFX Guitar Combo Amplifier here: goo.gl/TgTSLn
View the Marshall MG15GFX : goo.gl/u1cgdK
View the Marshall MG30GFX: goo.gl/AXJGhg
The Marshall MG50FX is part of the new GFX range of guitar amps, offering great features and tones at an affordable price. This 50w, 1x12" combo is right in the middle of the range, small enough for home practice but loud enough for rehearsals and small gigs.
Featuring 4 programmable channels (Clean, Crunch and two Overdrives), all of the MG series amps have 100% analogue drive and tone circuits with digital effects. Modulation effects include Chorus, Phaser, Flanger, Vibe and Octave which can be combined with separate reverb and delays to create some truly huge tones!
The MG-50 also features a headphone output, effects loop, MP3/Line In and foot switch connectivity (Marshall Stompware sold separately). Take a quick look and listen with PMTVUK and check one out at your local Professional Music Technology...

I played the 30w combo version today at a GC, as well as a 100w head version, these MG series amps sound allot like a solid state version of a DSL, which I own and like very much. I am not a fan of their Code series, but I did like the MG. I also think the MG sounds allot better then the new Line6 and Boss solid state amps.

Same here. I moved from MG to DSL. DSL is more dynamic, or more organic, etc. But I also miss the MG, it sounded really good.

@PMTVUK Hello, I just bought this amp and I had a question… Whenever I switch from either Crunch or OD1/OD2 to the Clean channel I am noticing that the Clean channel is very much louder than any of the distortion channels. Also when I engage the FX (either from Clean or Crunch/OD) it also increases the volume significantly. I have tried playing with the Volume & Master Volume but have had no luck in creating a same level volume for Clean, Crunch/OD & FX. Clean and FX always make the volume significantly louder when switching to them. Is there a way to accomplish this? Thanks so much!
@medaner1974

The key to your problem is to use the store settings...in every channel store the settings you wish and adjust the sound...less for the clean and more for the crunch and more for od1...so when you dial with the stored channels, the sound will remain as you wish...

What is better? The MG50GFX Combo or the MG100HGFX Head? They are located around the same price, but of course the head needs a separate speaker i can get for the same price as the amp. But the fact that the head obviously doesn't include speaker, would mean that its better built, since its the same price as the combo. And talking just amplifier, which one takes the cake? Is there a big difference or should I save some money and get the combo? It is just for home use at the moment. Thanks!

If you only buying for home practice and your budget is low, then you should must go with the MG50GFX but if you can afford the MG100HCFX, then you can go with that. But if you want to do small shows or gigs, then you should must go with the MG100HCFX. It will be more better and perfect for gigs.

I was thinking of buying a Marshall MG50GFX amplifier and an MX112R speaker. However, I notice that this amplifier model only has one speaker output, which is used for the combo itself. My question is: is it possible to split this output into two, in order to simultaneously use the combo's own speaker and an external speaker?
@timborek7109
@timborek7109 4 ай бұрын
Yes. There is a video of a many who uses a headphone splitter in the Speaker Out jack to connect add an extension cabinet. The adapter has a 1/4" male plug on one side and two female 1/4" jacks on the other. Half of the video is his disclaimer that he's not responsible for your damaging your amp. Regardless, the total speaker load shouldn't exceed what's marked on the Speaker Out jack.

Just to clarify CFX are the silver-faced "carbon fiber" wrapped amps, which share the same internals with the GFX (gold faceplate), just different cosmetics. The FX models (two letters) are three generations old. Not sure of any preamp differences, but I know the FX models don't have as many effects on the bigger amps -- no Vibe, only one reverb style, and fewer delay types.

It has a decent reverb and I only run it clean with a little reverb + DS1, Big Muff, & Compressor into the front. I let the pedals do all the work. It's a bit of a muddy amp. Wow a real ignorant reviewer. I mean this is his job and he misses one of the most useful features ant guitar combo amplifier can have. He left out the (RED) 8 ohm speaker out connection, which is a great feature. I have mine running through an 8 ohm 410 speaker cab and I love it. I can also connect to an 8 ohm 212 cab or into the internal 8 ohm speaker and also to another 8 ohm 12" cab and even a 16 ohm cab. This feature makes this into a professional amp in my opinion. Very few solid state/digital/non tube amps can do that.

Anyone know how to get the tuner to work?
@richardpayne2751
@richardpayne2751 9 ай бұрын
I think you need the 4 button footswitch (pedl-9008?) which has a display for the tuner. It can be from either button 4 on the footswitch, or by pressing the tuner button on the amp.

I had this combo amp once and i absolutely hated it, sounds absolutely awful, Marshall could have just put a volume knob in the front panel and the result would have been the same, there wasn’t any use for other controls since the sound was the same no matter what kind of settings you used.
