Marss is most definitely a top 10 player in the world. We’ve seen him handle Kola and do very well against top players like Tweek, Spargo, and MkLeo. I think his consistency is the only thing he needs to work on. He also most definitely would have won this set had his up not missed. It’s very tragic but they both played great. Marss did not play to his own standard, and I think that will only fuel him to do even better.

He’s placed bad in two majors recently, one where he lost to Tweek and MkLeo, who went on to be top 2, and the other where he got knocked out early as he was playing sub par. But this tournament is a game changer, it shows his dedication and ability to still perform at the top. If you don’t think he’s up there then who do you think is above him? Because Kola, a consistently top 5 player, got his ass handed to him. Marss lost his absolute worst player matchup ever, Olimar. That isn’t surprising. And he lost it because a Joker up B didn’t snap to ledge.

Over the course of an entire tournament the nerf is felt with how many people can mash out of bury at 90% and how many people can shield grab her nair, or how many times people avoid her Up B, or by how many people can land on her shield without having to worry about UpB. Not to mention Marss was literally the only relevant ZSS yet joker who has won more majors than any character only receives a nerf to his down guns. Pikachu still pancakes, Pyra still kills you at 70%, Palutena still has no disadvantage state and invincible dash attacks and bairs. But ZSS bury is apparently unacceptable and her nair with practically no range needs more lag, and her UpB is too fast. Makes no sense

You don't know much about serious pro player mentality. In terms of raw skill , Marss is still top 5 in the world. He just slacked off and was relying on that for the recent majors post quarantine. He was really motivated for Genesis and it showed. His sets were top caliber with a nerfed Zss. He lost to the second best player in the world and a really unfavorable MU for Zss in the busted campy ultra spacey walling of Olimar. Marss can still beat anyone regularly under the top 2 when he is motivated and focused.
