Yes, the good ole twist drill is a very versatile "spare part " for many a job . Good work there Mart. 👍

Thanks Maurice. We do what we can with what we got. The fact that they are decent material helps, I guess.

Great tip Mart 👍 I like the fact you've found more time to put out more content. Always a treat when I get notifications from you more than once a week 😃

Cheers FNLN Glad you're enjoying it. If I have one that can go together with minimal editing and it can stand alone I can put out the Sunday quickie.

Forgot to mention with my previous comment, about the versatility of twist drills , with the better quality ones , l use Carbide tipped tools & turn them in the Lathe, to what ever size pin I require. Cheers Mart.

Nice one Maurice. I ask, how do people cope without a lathe? I don't know.

Very informative Mart [as always] . Yes Ive done this too, however just a word of warning for new payers if you oversize the pin hole too much you will crack that section of the tower away, As you said in the vid its getting very thin on the top, and you can see it.
@MartsGarage3 жыл бұрын
Hi Talk. Yeah, good point. A point I maybe didn't make is that you use the drill first to round the hole to the next size. As you say, this one has cracked through at the top. Nice to see you chip in with a comment.

Thanks for sharing Mart. Those "fixit" tricks are "GOLD" !!! Just curious, what year was that F1 trans?? I'm guessing it had to be late 40's ?? Going down that path, you can switch to "open driveline" since the pickups abandoned the torque tube much earlier than the cars. Maybe 1946??
@MartsGarage3 жыл бұрын
Hi Bob. I bought that f1 trans last year thinking I could adapt it to closed drive. The problem was, it is a late f1 trans and has the later gears that are not compatible with the closed drive output shafts. (Helix angle is different). Luckily I had the gears I'd saved when I re-did the trans in the 41 pickup. I just used the case and shifter tower and filled it with internals I'd saved. There will be a video on the trans build once I've edited it.
