That first marten was something else. The speaker box set is a classic! We picked up 2 lines today. The catch is slowing down and the snow is bending stuff over. Thanks for the video.

Nov is usually the best marten time. We got 6 more that I didn’t have video of, and another new video coming out Sat from the end of last week

Another good one :) Some nice fur 👍, Kids are learning & sounds like they are having a blast :) Always hated those big dumps of snow when I was trapping, Just turns into a day of resetting ! Take care, good luck the rest of the season"

Thanks so much. Yes this snow is earlier than usually. It’s was always nice trapping/driving snow free for the month of Nov, but not this year. Now we have to deal with unplowed roads which is tough getting kids out. Thanks again. Take care!

It's a pain in the butt, but I pull all my boxes for that reason, as well as bear smelling some scent left in them and knocking them off the tree. It is time consuming, I would rather leave them in the bush. You're catching some really nice Marten! Heavy wet snow usually means heavy work. Good video, my friend. Take care

I’ve only had issues with those plywood cone shape boxes that have been up for 5-6 years. All my other boxes made from real wood are still good to go. I’ll be replacing all those with solid wood boxes. It’s all part of trapping 😁. Thanks for stopping by!

wow, your boxes are taking a beating this year. question. when you own the trap line what happens with the logging companies do they still have the right to login or no?
@deadpinecollectiveАй бұрын
I get a notice of any areas they are going to log, and if I have concerns, I have a very small voice. I try to trade off with plowed roads and not deactivating some bridges. Those boxes see my originals from 5 years ago, and have been up ever since. However the boxes made of solid wood (like the double that fell down) were also put up at the same time and they are still 100%. People liked the plywood cone shaped boxes because you can stack them so easier to transport. Because I leave mine out year round I don’t need to worry about that.

Try making some boxes out of slab wood from saw mill. Rounded side out. Will look more natural than plywood. Cheap.

Yup. I have a bunch of rough cut lumber that is the exact dimensions to make new boxes. I bought these a long time ago to try out. I like the top door to hold the bait but realized later plywood is crap.
