My mind is blown. I'm halfway through season 2 (online) and I had the urge to look up this actress to see how she talks in real life. I'm amazed, that is her real voice, which is fantastic. Baskets is sooooooooo good. I love it. Zach Galifianakis is a genius!

She is so great--both as a character and as a person. She seems gung-ho and handles the ridiculousness of the Baskets family so well. Definitely one of my favorite parts of Baskets, there just is no weak cast member on this show.

I love that she is similar to her character in monotone speech. She is very funny and you can hear it by picking up on the gentle flow of her character. Her personality is 'ironic' humor. I think she is funny. She sees the world different and has a delivery of dry wit. Sometimes, during the show I would burst out laughing from what some would see as 'no joke on screen actually happening' yet, I would 'get it' completely what was going on and that in and of itself is what makes it funny. Knowing that so many people were likely missing the awkwardness of a moment or a scene. I know a lot of people throughout my life that have no idea on how that brand of comedy works. Like...the re-use of the word CLONE over and over once the initial character spoke it by phone while sitting at the pool. It doubles and triples the laugh depth when you think about the initial time the audience heard it and 'got it.' Martha Kelly discussing her character is funny because you know she is smart and often, when Zak is railing about some inane thing, Martha is actually the sane person, making the most sense and she is logical about him and guides his antics. The times like when she is speaking, opening up in the car to Zak and he cuts her off, shuts the car door and walks away. It's soooo rude but that is what's funny. It dawned on me in season 4 - he got it from his mom, who also does that in other ways like by phone or a dismissive attitude. Louie is hysterical with that delivery time and time again and it doesn't get old. I'm a fan if you can't tell.
