About Heihachi's back breaking during his impossible triple-sweep, that's a common thing in animation. May not be realistic at all, of course, but a character's limbs or back "breaking" helps sell the motion or speed of an action in CGI, sprites, or drawn animation a lot better than a stiff and more "realistic-looking" attack. Especially, say, an axe kick in a sprite-based game. If it's meant to be insanely quick a drop, you may notice the character's leg bend backward at the knee a little bit before the foot drops to give the visuals of that axe kick that bit more "oomph."

7:13 Hi, Taekwondo instructor here. Just want to point out that the kick Hwoarang did here is a side raising kick, Noah and Gemma was explaining a side piercing kick. Hwoarang's kick is used mostly for active stretching, not really for combat. Maybe that's why they're confused on why he used that kick in a combat situation. Good video, would love to meet these 2 amazing people some day.
@karlobicierro70814 жыл бұрын
Sir i am a legit white belt and that is true. Hwoarang even has this other series of kicks where it is a straight front high kick for stretching in real taekwondo
@DJWeapon84 жыл бұрын
Its a launcher in-game. If done properly, it'll look like a side kick that hits high. *There's problems with that.* - It will be deceptive and unfair. If it looks like it will hit high, logic and instinct will tell you to duck under. If they did this while it still hits *mid* you're going to get launched if you do the sensible thing. Hence the reason why his kick looks the way it is. So it makes sense, looks good, and for game balance.
@AzriAzhari4 жыл бұрын
@@DJWeapon8 I know it's a launcher. I'm a Hwoarang main haha xD The thing about the side raising kick (yop cha oligi) is that there is no chambering of the leg, aka bending of the knee. So the foot moves in a semi-circle motion from down up. Therefore, the peak range of this kick is mid, even in real life. Plus since it starts from the floor, it makes sense that it hits grounded opponents. Kicking high on this kick is just a way we train to kick through the target. I can make a video on the side raising kick if anybody is interested here.

@@AzriAzhari I was really explaining the in-game reason for the kick for people who don't play the game. But I don't have much of a background in TKD, so you being a TKD practitioner and giving a real world example is really cool.

Yeah. I also think the content is eh. Like they should show small exhibition of certain characters of more diversity. Instead of competitive matches and things like that. At one point they even were even disconnected from the content they were viewing. And also they said street fighter is more martial arts technical but didn't view jin, Law, fang, Lee, leo ect.
