I think the logic for the holster not being secured to the thigh is because the bottom is open, they can tilt the entire holster up and fire without having to draw the revolver. Still a bit of an odd choice, but that may be the reason for it being that way.
@smacklebottom223 Жыл бұрын
Sheriff Malloy has it strapped to his thigh I believe, and so does Sadie, so not sure why they didn't have it as an option for Arthur
@a_loyal_kiwi88 Жыл бұрын
I think the reason why it isn't strapped to the thigh is because you can customize the holster. They may have had issues with rigging it to the character model or some other nonsense, or it could simply be an oversight. If there is some ingame explanation, it would have to do with Arthur, maybe how he just prefers not to tie it down because... reasons.

some holsters can be stitched tight with the belt, and if you watch quick draw competitions some of them are in some sort of matrix limbo stance decreasing the angle needed when drawing to shoot. Some RDR characters probably just have fast hands and wrists and don't need to do such stance.

At meticulous as Rockstar was with RDR2 and tiny hidden details it'd be weird if the holster was one they missed. I think it's purely just the design of the one in particular Arthur is using because there are other characters in the game that do have the bottom strap like Sadie and Sheriff Malloy. I think Arthur's kind just doesn't because it's a different brand? Even now not all holsters have that depending on what kind you buy
@cleanixx5343 Жыл бұрын
1:29 If you can find me one historical example of what he’s talking about I’ll accept his point. But Revolver holsters aren’t Kydex drop down tactical shit. There were almost no quick draws/duels in the Wild West so „putting your gun back quickly and in style“ probably wasn’t an issue for most if anyone.
@bad-people6510 Жыл бұрын
1:30 That's just a quickdraw rig. Historically most of them weren't. The high waist rig and cross draw rig were both far more common than the quickdraw rig. It may even be anachronistic, though I've seen some old photos that sort of suggest it was sometimes worn that way.

Sleeping Dogs definitely has my favorite hand to hand combat system of any of the games I’ve played. It’s so fantastic once you get used to it. Not to mention all of the different “finishers” you can do, whether you’re stuffing someone down a vent or slamming their head in a car door. It’s really unique and wicked fun.
@nanyafahkinbiznes1352 Жыл бұрын
Some revolver holsters are custom made, it's true that a little thigh strap is needed to keep it still when pulling it out but there are also holsters that are buttoned/stitched tight with the belt.

On the holster. If you are riding a horse having it tied to your leg increases the chance of you loosing your gun. If the holster is loose it will hang vertical and be more accessible when you need it. Using the leg strap is good for quick draw, but that is not what cowboys would use.
@Josh_JKL Жыл бұрын
Red Dead 2 is one of my favourite games, but not for the fighting technique obviously. Not many cowboy/criminals would have been taught how to fight I'm guessing. But MGS V and Sleeping Dogs I think had the most accurate technique out of the games, even if they were blends of different Martial Arts. Yoshi was right, MGS is all about stealth and infiltration. They call their fight style CQC (Close Quarters Combat).

Really fun to see more reaction to Sleeping Dogs. I did a replay of the game recently after starting to train in Muay Thai and some other martial arts a few years back and it gave me new appreciation for how well they did the animations and combos. There's definitely some liberties taken with some things for the sake of gameplay (it's really, really hard to drag someone around the same size as you around if they're resisting but how else would the game let you shove someone into an ice chipper?) but I love how it both just works so well from both gameplay and a narrative perspective. Wei's basic attack combos featuring a mix of modern kickboxing/MMA strikes occasionally punctuated with a kung fu style backfist or the like fits his background being a mix of influences so well.
