Martin 000 15m (K and K Pure Mini) Review

I was going to buy one. They were $2000 in Canada. When I finally save up enough they were suddenly $2500. I said screw it and bought a Yamaha LS 16 for $1200. Sounds as good in a different way.

That model is the best value in a real solid wood, professional level guitar. I find the knk pure mini, to be be in perfect agreement with that philosophy. Simple, no battery, sounds good, works every time.

Exactly what I have...a 00015m with a K&K installed. Best combo and great sound

@@cashmoney9256 I don't use a preamp just go directly into an old bass amp(lol). I started doing this as a temporary fix until I got a proper acoustic amp, but sounds so good I just kept it, no problems at all.

Been looking at these guitars non stop for weeks and just ordered one a few hours ago... Looking at options for plugging her in and I think I'm sold on this K&K, great playing and thanks for the demo!

I recently bought a 000-15M. I have an 0-18 as well, but this guitar just has a vibe that I have fallen in love with!

@@leopleyer4400 they are both different, but each has their place. The 0-18 in better for fingerstyle, the 000-15 is better for blues, etc. ...

I love my 00015 and installed a LR baggs M1A and even used the para di box with it and still couldn’t get it to cut through the mix in a band setting… had to go with something else for live playing

Thankyou Tom. I love the look of your guitar, it has such authenticity for Delta blues. I first started playing a very close friend's '53 Brazilian 00028 nearly half a century ago! Since then I've been hooked on Martins. I love the 00015, although it's misnamed, should be a MOM (mahogany om). Yours sounds wonderful, and is superbly played, weldone. I've tried quite a few but never found one that worked for me. In order to get the tone and volume I like, I've found the break angle at the saddle has to be set so high the long OM scale length makes the action unplayable above the seventh fret. I think a true 000 scale length would make the guitar more playable, but there wouldn't be enough oomph to drive the mahogany top. This is a real conundrum for me as I hate fighting string tension. You seem to have found the sweet spot, either that, or you've a very strong left hand! Anyway, I find myself being quite jealous. Also, I ponder the pick up or not question often. I may eventually put a K&K into an OM 28 I like, but don't love. It has a low oval neck, I prefer C necks, as I've never managed to play thumb over chords. At the moment I just use a mic and put up with the sqeaks and howls it coughs out from time to time. In conclusion, however you've managed it, you've produced exactly the look, tone and feel, I've searched for, for half a life time. Congratulations. Best regards P

Nicely done. I have a Martin hd-28vr that a friend is wanting to trade me for a 000 15m, plus some cash to boot. Can not seem to make my mind up on that. I would like to have a 000m though.

First, I really like mahogany and my last guitar was a Martin 000-18MD, mainly because of that wood. Also, my tech recommended the K&K mini so I'm having one installed tomorrow. Your demo is surely a good ad for it. Different guitars are going to sound better with different pickup/amp/pre-amp etc. setups but I'm following the tech's advice because he knows my guitar well. My only question at the moment would be if you are playing with some volume in a mid-size room, where I use my deluxe reverb, or something about that size, definitely less than the twin reverb, what's the situation like with feedback with that pickup? I could just get a sound hole cover I guess, but I am so used to using a tele that I have no experience with amplified acoustics, but definitely want to add that. I'm mainly blues but love bluegrass ................

I was looking for a k and k mini demo, but when you're playing, I can hear you breathing through your nose....which suggests the audio I'm hearing isn't a true representation of the pickup. Sure, I can hear that the room / mic level / buzz goes up after you've played, but, still, this isn't just the pure mini sound - is it?

Good question! It was a while a go now since I got the pick up installed. I took my guitar to a good little guitar shop where I used to live and asked for options. They immediately said the K and K Pure mini. The pick was easy to install and it's got a great sound when you just plug it in! I don't think you'll be disappointed. Hope this helps.

The Anthem SL is better than the K&K because you don’t have to run it through a stand alone preamp and it is extremely feedback resistant. K&K don’t fare too well with the feedback problems.

I find it quite amusing that y'all have been conned into thinking that something that sounds lifeless, dead, and muddy sounds good. Mahogany makes a crap top. Play this side by side with something like a Boucher HG46 or 56. If any of you think the mahogany top guitar sounds better, you are 1: flat out bold face lying 2: tone deaf or actually deaf or 3: delusional, or possibly any or all combinations of the aforementioned. As for the K and K, they're ok, I have a few on some of my guitars, but there are other pickups by other manufacturers that are just as good or better.
