@toniwilson15797 жыл бұрын
so true. I think they knew down deep that their fans was waiting to see them together even so briefly together again. That took place on Jerry telethon in 1976 and just that small get together brought a relief to all their fans.

They did love each other - right to the end, once they got over the egos and the hangers-on dripping vitriol into their ears. It is still heart-warming and lovely to see and so what if it is homoerotic? Makes them all the more adorable, if you ask me!

How I would have loved to see them just for an Annual reunion each year. What magic what love. You never see Dean this free and laughing and unrestrained after Martina and Lewis. While they both had great careers, how I wish they found A way to have a partnership of a lifetime. Still I believe they always had Love.

Love seeing the early Colgate hours cause you can still see the love they had for each other. This skit was in 1951 about 6 years into their partnership. They had said it was really the last 2 years things really fell apart. These early skits bring a smile to my face every time I see them.

Not really. Dean was already getting seriously fed up with Jerry's bullying and domination of everything, from writing to who did what. Jerry was a bully to everyone though, Dean should have gotten out sooner, he wasted about 5 years of a singing career with that narcissist. One good thing about it was that afterwards, on any stage, Dean could not be fazed by anything, probably the reason he was so relaxed.
@jerrylewisthekid5479 Жыл бұрын
@@susantunbridge4612 That narcissist took a debt-ridden guy like Martin was when they first met and put him on top of the world! Without him Martin at this hour was still singing in third-rate venues like was doing! And penniless. Martin didn't care nothing, he just played golf while Jerry did all the work! Jerry started Martin & Lewis and until other people got in their way (like Jeanne who was JEALOUS to die of Jerry after stealing Betty's husband) those two got along great! Jerry became an author of the highest level and one of the best directors who ever lived loved and respected all over the world, Martin became the King of vulgarity! He was a class act ONLY as long as he stayed with Jerry! He took his talent and threw it in a damn glass! Jerry was not a narcissist, you repeating the same things over and over like parrots!
@kellycaviness48503 ай бұрын
@@susantunbridge4612wrong again. You haven't done any research at all. Just the same old version that everybody believes. Dean's real fans love him enough to find the truth, the real truth. Dean loved Jerry, and wanted him back. Dean said he thought they were breaking up as partners, not friends. It was Jerry, not Dean who really walked away. If you would look, it's all documented for anybody who cares to look, but you're obviously not one of them, just "I hate Jerry" and "Dean was a saint". Wow. If Jerry dominated the writing, which he didn't, it was because Dean allowed it. He played golf while Jerry made him rich and famous. Yea, look that up too. It's all there

Bill Kane Well, I was born just after the War, so I would have been around but I am from the UK so I also never got to see them. Even though they were very big in America, their shows were never shown over here. I only knew Dean as a singer during the 1960s and, like you, it’s only in the last few years I have come to know them as a double act through the wonders of You tube, along with many other American comedians of the time that I hadn’t heard of before, like Jonathan Winters, Foster Brooks, Jonny Carson etc.

Laurie Mullins Yes, he was, wasn't he? Everybody raves about Jerry because he was so loud and zany, but so many times it was Dean's reactions and wonderful comic timing that made their sketches even funnier. An example is towards the end of this sketch @10.25 when Dean walks forward and says"I'm Jerry Lewis, I'm walking into the camera!" (which of course was what Jerry did all the time) and the audience completely missed the joke because they were just waiting for Jerry to make his next entrance. It's no wonder that even Deans famously easygoing personality eventually came to feel so under-appreciated.
