Dickens is a flawed genius who continues to fascinate.

It is a rather lengthy novel but it is Dickens' english prose, delivered with such consummate skill in the elegant rendering of each narrative, that kept me listening as if I were in a trance. The reader is a real Brit who knows his craft and caresses every word and sentence with impeccable precision (...in modulation, intonation and pronunciation).

Who is the narrator? He sounds like one of the characters in the video. Excellent book and narrator. Thank you for posting this.

He buys a swamp.

He wants to establish his fortune without help from his grandfather to show him he can do without his money. Also that he might free Mary from her dependence on the old martin chuzzlewitt.

Why does the Author writes "OYSTER" when PECKSNIFF is comparing something similar to a "SWAN" indicating a "SIREN" ?
@katarinamor3 ай бұрын
Because it's a funny joke.:) Just like sirens, oysters live by the sea, hence the association, but imagine singing oysters!😁

Hi Peter, love your reading but I have on criticism. Can you re record it without using that sing song voice of pecksniff. It drives me mad!!!! Watch the BBC adaptation. He doesn't sound anything as irritating. Otherwise everyone else sounds fine.

So many mispronunciations by this narrator are too distracting for my taste....quite unsurprising as it is Librivox where "delusions of adequacy" pertain.
